This is the kind of local restaurant where the neighbors drop in, locals meet before going somewhere and the elderly come for a chat. The menu is limited, but the food is good. Main course was couscous: healthy and well prepared. Starter was a salad: quality was less because of too many canned ingredients (tasted however OK).
This little gem of a restaurant is in the heart of Marseille within the Moroccan quarter. They have a formule (set menu) for only 8,90 euros and it was so good I went back the next day. I had chorba soup for starter which was a whole meal in itself, then the couscous was delicious and came with 3 different types of meat, with vegetables and sauce. The meal starts with a big plate of olives and bread, and finishes with mint tea or coffee. Don't expect fancy tablecloths and the TV will be on throughout your meal, but the food more than makes up for that.
This simple, but clean place has wonderful, traditional Tunisian cuisine. The owner was super friendly and helpful which was a real plus. It's in the heart of a lively, busy market area which is worth exploring as well.
