Bidra med feedbackAfter the second attempt, as I first discovered that kitchens close at 9 a.m., I'm glad that I open them up. We were greeted by a really warm and charming big Chap. The place is like you back in time with the authentic Austrian atmosphere. I went for local food and tried the beef with mushrooms and 'rostie' hash browns.... just perfect! Price wise be very good value for money unlike some other places near the church. I recommend it to everyone who enjoys food and wants to taste an authentic Austrian dinner. You won't regret it! This restaurant is located at the end of the main road in Maria Alm. It looks like a small cottage in the woods and when you come in, it is warm and welcoming. We were greeted by a gentle giant who served all alone and the place was packed. Although he was busy, he greeted us and told us to sit wherever we could. A couple waved to them and although limited English we immediately connected to them. She recommended a dish that had 3 types of meat that my husband ordered and I ordered Gnocci with cheese. Both dishes were huge, tasty and served cakes hot. We ordered a beer that was on the tap and was served immediately. The gentle giant came by and spoke to us and was interested in where we were and also spoke to the couple who shared their table with us. Later by talking about where we stayed, the couple lived on the same street where our B was and they were also connected to the gentle giant. This is a family business, he is the son in the law of the Lederer family who owned the restaurant for years. We returned for a second night to dinner and were greeted in the same friendly way and the food delicious. If you are really looking for great Austrian food and hospitality, do not miss this charming restaurant. We noticed that it was visited by many locals who are always a good indication that the food is good.

This restaurant is located at the very end of the main road into Maria Alm. It looks like a little cabin in the woods and when you get inside it is warm and welcoming. We were greeted by a "gentle giant" who was serving totally on his own and the place was packed. Despite being busy he greeted us and told us to seat ourselves where ever we could. A couple waved us over to join them and although limited English we connected with them right away. They recommended a dish that had 3 types of meat which my husband ordered and I ordered gnocci with cheese. Both dishes were huge, flavorful and served piping hot. We ordered some beer which was on tap and was served to us right away. The "gentle giant" came over and talked with us and was interested in where we were from and also spoke with the couple that shared their table with us. Later through conversation regarding where we were staying the couple lived on the same road where our B & B was and they were also related to the "gentle giant". This is a family run business, he is the son in law of the Lederer family who have owned the restaurant for years. We returned for a second night for dinner and were greeted in the same friendly manner and the food delicious. If you truly are looking for great Austrian food and hospitality, don't miss out on this delightful restaurant. We noticed that it was frequented by many locals which always is a good indication that the food is good.
