Bidra med feedbackWe had a brake in the small village margaux. something wee from the local merchant used and after having been badly treated in the chateau margaux (they should learn from d’yqem) came to this perfect outpost down to gironde.
Beautiful reception by friendly, though very young, staff. good location, right at the golf course with a view of a water function. many free parking. interieur modern and immaculate. menu pretty cheap with good combination offers such as the birdie, which is a main course and...coffee for about fourteen euro. the burgers and fries look fantastic, but the chef shows only the burger the grill and so they are very rare and will not be too tasteful. it's a pity they're not open for dinner.
Just ok, but good for an afternnon snack on the golf club. we had the omelette and it was good, and the waitress was nice.
We were recommended the restaurant here but discovered on arrival that this was only open in the evenings. However the brasserie was in the same location, presumably run by the same people so we decided to try it. We received a warm welcome by attentive...staff but that was the high point. I ordered a glass of wine but had to ask for the glass to be cleaned I gave up with the water glasses and polished them myself with my napkin! The starter of goats cheese, bacon and honey should have been simple and delicious the goats cheese had been melted onto bread and mixed up with salad and unfortunately ended up like something from a fast food restaurant. The steak had some flavour but was very tough. Dessert looked a bit more promising until I found a button in the coulis and that was the last straw and unsurprisingly we decided to ask for the bill wondering what we had already unknowingly eaten. I went to the hotel reception to make the manager aware of our experience while my husband settled the bill. Unfortunately their was no hotel manager available. Interestingly the brasserie only deducted our desserts from the bill. Don't make our mistake the worst meal in France by a long way!
We were a group of eight friends touring Bordeaux for a week. We stumbled across this lovely brasserie by following a sign out of the village of Margaux. It led to a golf course and the most amazing brasserie. The table d'hote was super value...ranging from €14 to €22 with several main options of rump steak, fish, chicken, etc. The charcuterie that came as one of the entrees was enough to feed two people. The dessert was a selection of five small samples, each worthy of its own full-sized serving. The quality of the food matched the presentation. It was very good and had clearly been freshly cooked. We paired our food with a bottle of the house white wine and the entire meal came to about €100 including coffees. The best value for money of any meal I've had.
