Caffe Modi - MANTOVA

Sweet little Italian place with great breakfast, accessible and good taste. A delicious way to start the day.

This is a great find, just off the main drag. It's a small café/restaurant/bar with a personal service; friendly, helpful staff and good service. We asked to see the lunch menu and they were very flexible; we were told we could have a sandwich instead if we preferred. The food was delicious and there are vegetarian options. You order at the table and then can pay at the counter. Try the pumpkin tortellini in a sage butter sauce, which seems to be an autumn speciality for the region, delicious.

We just had coffee, tea and some pastry. We liked the owner's affinity for Modigliani and found easily good parking next to the restaurant in the close proximity of the Tourist Info Office. Nice service, good drinks and pastry.

I do love this place... one of the best places to have a drink, a breakfast or a light meal in Mantua. The atmosphere is so refined. You can see class in every single little detail. The barmaids and the owner are always nice and polite, dealing with clients using good manners. You will never find here anyone standing on the door pushing you to enter into the bar... and, you know, this is a sign of quality. The good places as the Caffè Modì don 't need this sort of pushers or aggressive advertising . The Caffè Modi is an artistic place. The name is an homage to the painter Modigliani the owner of the caffè is a big fan of him. Quite often nice concerts are performed in the caffè... so, if you are into Art and Music, this is a place not to be missed.
