We have been coming to this pub for decades and it is always excellent. We've dined there on many occasions and the food is traditional. British done really well. This latest visit was just for drinks and we had a great time. It really is a winter pub for us as we prefer to sit outside when possible, but this is a downstairs place with an excellent atmosphere. It is a free house so has a great range of beers at typical City centre prices. The bronze of Lowry at the bar is a real talking point and his photo adorn s many of the walls. It attracts a mature crowd and as a really friendly and laid-back environment.
Always loved sam’s and yesterday visited confirmed this, had a few of the extensive beer in the offer, then it tried famous corn bark hasch, wow that is on another level, so delicious, highly recommended, thanks to mary, glen for looking for us, children youngs.
With my sister visits to midday, nothing was much effort for our server georgia, eating was fabulous, we had the mini yorkshire puddings, the crooked bark hash cake, lamb hotpot, and the most tart to finish, everything was beautifully presented and arrived. the table fast, we will definitely try again, others the rest of the menu
Two people had two classes with nice eating. we had appetizers of kabeljau (excellent) and netzen by poulet breton and steak nierenpudding. the former was large upper leg and a breast! and he had on extra veg so no room. for his captivity. my
