Bidra med feedbackTaiwan Cafe is one of the best Asian restaurants in NOVA. There's not too many good Chinese/Taiwanese restaurants in the area, but this place really hits the spot! I believe it's a family run restaurant, and the owners are by far one of the friendliest restaurant owners I have met. They are always recommending me items to try, and I was able to bring some friends who have never tried Taiwanese cuisine and they absolutely loved it. Unfortunately, I think their business was hit pretty hard with Covid and inflation, so they are closing down. I just wanted to write this review to say that you will be very much missed and I hope I get to taste your dishes again!
Delivered food to my house for over 10 years, even before it was Taiwan Cafe, and this time some idiot answers the phone who can't even spell my street name tells me I'm out of the area and always have been. Yeah right, call me a liar. What an idiot. Recommend going elsewhere with your business.
Out in Manassas to walk the battlefield trail, Taiwanese food seemed like a justifiable reward our hike. Got far too much food, but it was all good and a necessary intro to my Taiwanese food-non-knower friend. Highlights in particular were the Three Cup Chicken, the Braised Pork Belly and Oyster Mushrooms, and Taiwanese Popcorn Chicken with Basil. Taiwanese food often feature a lot of time-consuming braises, something which many Taiwanese restaurants will leave off the menu, but not the case here. Loved the complexity of the Three Cup Chicken. The thick, fat slices of oyster mushrooms were great and kept making me think they were rice cake. The Taiwanese popcorn chicken with basil is a common enough dish but dammit, it was delicious here. The owner, upon hearing that some guy was ordering a lot of food and taking pictures of them with a big vintage Nikon zoom lens, popped out. Got a chance to chat with owner Kenny Hu and learned about how he 's a self-taught cook who only puts Taiwanese ingredients into these dishes to ensure they taste authentically Taiwanese. I won 't get down the rabbit hole of authenticity, but the food is excellent and goes beyond what you would find in most Taiwanese restaurants. The shop is closing on 12/1 because Manassas isn 't a great location. Still unclear when/if Taiwan Cafe will relocate to Falls Church as Kenny intends. Handmade dumplings, XLB, and the braised pork belly are all available for purchase until then. It 's all good enough that I 'm actually considering driving out to Manassas again in a weekend or two.
Love the Taiwanese style food. The owner is extremely foodie. If you can name the dishes he can cook them.
Miss this gem wish they were still in business. Best spot for homemade Taiwanese food taste amazing wonton soup, spicy beef noodle soup, black bean sauce fish, and plenty of other dishes. Would pay to pick up this food from the owner's house if possible
