Great house kitchen. Great place. Small and busy (good). Great comfort food. had the open meat lamb sandwich that should tell you what kind of place it is.
When pressed, I will describe Satterwhite as Virginia Diner or Country Diner, unlike restaurants you see in Maryland and Pennsylvania. You know, with their chrome bar stools and their patty melts and their hot pastraimi sandwiches. Satterwhite is different. Looks like it's been there forever, a small house that was eventually converted into a local restaurant. Go in, sit down yourself, and if you want French fries instead of potatoes, you can still get engraving on it (and you should). I eat here three times and the first meal was hard to beat: open meat lamb sandwich. Today it was a delicious hot ham cheddar sub, and Adam had the open turkey grotto sandwich. I almost missed what
Came to breakfast on Saturday morning and was sitting pretty fast and the food came even faster. Great place to eat a house bite.
Great service and the liver and onions were delicious. Good home cooking.
