Bidra med feedbackThis was our scond visit to this Indian eatery. Positives: Attentive staff. Clean presentation. Acceptable price. Wine was nice. The Kashmir nan was spot on. So often these are soggy sugar-stuffed or honey-drizzled coconut-smothered and sickening. The rice was perfect. I mean can rice not be? Well this rice was fab. I opted for the lamb vindaloo as I like a good punch to my spice. It kicked like a mule. In fact I asked for a little yogurt just to occasionally cool my palate. Perfect. Just what I like. Not like other pathetic offerings I have elsewhere. My partner opted for the chicken korma. She loved it. There was plenty of chicken in there too. Negatives: The setting is a little compact. Not sure why we were seated immediately next to others when there was plenty of room. Mixed pakora included one prawn and too many onion fragments. The accompanying small salad was tired. The menu is somewhat limited but what is there is fair enough. We haven't tried the takeaway offerings yet so I can't comment. Definitely worth a try and better than other Indian restaurants in this area. We will call again.
I have been to the Chefs of Tandoori more times than I can count on two hands. The thing that stands out most about Chefs of Tandoori is the freshness and lightness of the curries. I would consider them the healthiest Indian restaurant in the area. The usual curries like Rogan Josh are not as oily. My favourite curries are the goat curry and the Fish Kerala. Whilst the fish has been fried lightly in batter, you don 't get a heavy oily feeling after eating it. The fish is served in a mild curry that is lightly creamy. I also love the Okra Dopiaza here. The Kashmiri Pulao is one of the lightest and isn 't overly oily as well. I also recommend the prawn curry though there could be more prawns in each serve. Whilst the prices are just marginally a little more, you pay for the quality. This joint is my go-to takeaway when it 's been a busy week and I 'm still trying to eat 'right '. I love the service and ambience here as well. They remember you! If you order takeaway via their app you get a discount. Also you can get a cheap glass of wine whilst you wait for your takeaway.
Hokay. Now... on the one hand you have very very nice tandoor action. On the other, terrible website and lack of updates on the price. On the one hand bad jasmin rice, but quite nice palak paneer. A bit pricier than local competition, but also better quality for most stuff. Take away is easy. Dining in, seems feasible (doesn't seem to get too crowded). So a solid A-OK kinda joint. Unless you skip the rice. then it is great.
Sometimes great, sometimes good, sometimes terrible. I recommend going someplace you know will deliver excellent every time instead of hoping you have the right chef.
Great food and surroundings, lovely helpful staff. And finally a restaurant that knows a short black in not an espresso, its a short black : Will be back for sure :
