Bidra med feedbackProbably we were unlucky, but our experience was not so great. The locals alre plenty of things (too many) and confused, the bathroom not so clean, the service very poor. The two young people serving at desk seemed not so interested to host people. We asked for cakes, but only after we finished our drinks they realized we weren't served at all. We think that too many compliments are not good for the owners to improve the service, and also that son and daughter don't love their job as the parents.
Great lunch in a fairytale setting. The menu is not at all banal, dishes of Friulian tradition well presented and tasty.
We had a nice dinner at this restaurant. The ambience is historical, old interiors and furniture brings you back in time. The recipes are delicious, among others we had a wonderful beer-soup, something I never heard of before, that the cook developed from recipes from her family, dating back one hundred years ago. The prices are extremely good coinsidering the unusual experience, around 10 € for a first dish, 15€ for a second dish. You will love visiting this place!
We visited this place several times for dinner and we were always pleasantly surprised by imaginative preparation of traditional carinthian dishes in a special interior.
This place is unusual in every sense of the word. Beyond it's eclectic style, warm hospitality, and neverending surprises (more dining rooms than a 17th Century Chateau ...the food pushes the limits of tradition with a flare. If you plan on going there only once try their antipasto della casa, and assortment of appetizers based on traditional ingredients prepared and combined in non-traditional ways...their homemade pasta al ragù di cervo (venison ragù is their signature dish, and any of their meat dishes as explained by the owner, involve laborius preparation, and are outright delicious. Malborghetto is in the upper northeast of Italy, about 15-20 minutes from the Austrian border...worthwhile the visit when you are in Friuli.
