Bidra med feedbackCame today for lunch with my husband, first impression was unsafe haha, this is not your typical BBQ joint, air smells not of smoke, floors and tables were literally sparkling clean and so the stainless steel was visible in the kitchen from anywhere in the restaurant. We ordered two 2 meats blue plate specialties, get 1/4lb of each meat per dish. I ordered ribs and sausage and my husband ordered brisket and turkey. We tried the macaroni and cheese, Elote Mais and mustard potato salad. Macaroni and potato salad were decent what you expect at any barbecue. The mustard potato salad was sweet, but not dry at all and nicely plucked. The elephant was interesting, I never had it somewhere, so I had no idea what to expect. The menu said from the bay, but it seemed like corn for me, it had a creamy southwestern season, rugged cheese and corn with a fold of Zilantro, I thought it was great, man also enjoyed it. The ribs were ok, nicely seasoned they had great taste and good texture. The sausage was also quite good, but definitely lacked the smokey taste I generally associated with BBQ. We both liked the sausage with their BBQ sauce, spicy and a little vinegary, it was good with the pork. The brisket was pretty good, very nice bark and smoke ring, delicate and humid, but not as tasteful as I hoped. The piece I tried was on the lean side and the other, more fat end was delicious. The clear star of the show was the turkey, moist, tasteful and smokey, it was all we hoped and more, definitely not give up the turkey! We also got a sample of the pig belly and I wish I had ordered it, it was delicious, but very rich. The woman who leads the counter was very friendly and attentive, without floating. I would certainly come back here, do not let the small size or location mislead you, the food was oh so satisfying. One last note to add from my husband, he missed the classic Hamburger Dill Pickle chips, as the pickles on the plate were from the bread and butter version, I enjoyed the pickled onion, slightly sweet I went well I thought.
Reveille BBQ is owned and operated by Veteran. A thousand stars and thank you! Very cool decor and super friendly and fun staff. The German sausage is little embarrassing, well made and my German men liked it. It's good with her sweet/sour mustard. I had the slim bride and it was perfect. It was well seasoned and damp. The red grill sauce was also perfect. Not hard on vinegar and heat. The ribs were well seasoned and delicious. The meats were to my taste, as I prefer dry rubbed over wet. Don't worry, they have a lot of sauce. The potato salad was a little sharp as the Tex Elote. Twice baked potatoes, Mac cheese, green beans and the house relish were delicious. Remember, it's a byob. They sell filled water and preserved soft drinks.
Definitely under the upper level in larger Houston and the trip worth or stop. Large damp brisket, pig bell had solid pepper rub, but would have used another hour in the smoker to make. Ribs were competitive tendering, could perhaps use some more smoke/Bark. Taco Sausage was amazing. Elote was tasty, give him a squeeze of lime. Homemade pimples were perfect and all 3 sauces were delicious. Service was so friendly.
Wow. At the first attempt of this place and we will definitely be back! We ordered to go and I'm super picky over brisket, but seriously, this brisket just melted in the mouth! The turkey was so moist and tasty. My favorite was the Brisket and Pickles. The homemade pickles were divine! I would definitely buy a glass when they sell it! 10/10 everywhere. Pages were also amazing! But above all, thank you for your service!
The brisket is moist, the sausage has surprise cheese cooked in, the potato salad has the right amount of vinegar bite, the homemade pickles are perfectly pickled and the service is friendly. The only non-beer beverages are Coke and water, and we didn't try the Lone Pint beer, brewed on premises, but people seem to like it! There's a tree-shaded picnic table area with string lights and good rock music playing
