Restaurante La Cala - Machico

Best meatskewer I had ever had beautiful experience. and the lunchtime was extremely cheap, I paid 7 eur with drinks! definitely a good place to stop lunch. nothing nice, but good food!

If they want terrible food and bad service, then this is the place for them. First they brought garlic bread that had no garlic at all. my family member asked for cod, and they brought meat for him....They warn no one that they had no fish. the egg is badly made and looks disgusting on the plate.

We wanted to have lunch there becouse my friend recomended this place but they weren't interested to serve us as we wanted that's why we yust hawe drinks and went to the other place.

Went out of our way to find this place as had such good reviews but it turned out to be the worst meal of our holiday . We both ordered the skewers . But when it came we had been given a chicken portion with...rice and chips . We decided to stay with it as the waitress didn’t speak English a and we had already waited 40 mins . The chicken was disgusting . It was cold and greasy and hardly any meat on it . The fries were also very greasy and the rice was just your boring plain boiled rice . Wasn’t cheap at €8.50. We were having lovely meals back in Funchal for a similar price .

We’d read some write ups on the internet that really rated this restaurant so we made a special trip there and was really looking forward to something special. It was decidedly average and the staff seemed really grumpy which was a shame. My husband had...the espitadas which were okay and I had the fish which was really dry and tasted like it had been reheated. Wouldn’t bother with this restaurant when there are so many other fantastic restaurants for traditional food in the area.
