Ole' West Bean Burger - Mabank

Always wonderful home cooked food with friendly service. They always make you feel so welcome. Also, the prices won’t break the bank!

This USED to be our favorite restruant to eat at, until yesterday. Now we have off and on had poor experiences here, and we have heard people say they even found bugs in their food, but what happened yesterday really upset my family, and embarrassed us. My son, who is ASD, was at the salad bar with me and his sister. They are 9 and 10, him being the oldest. While trying to get himself some cucumber salad, he dropped 2 cucumbers on the tray holder right by his plate. The manager (I think) tall old guy, bald, was watching with dismay and said outloud for myself and my son to hear that children shouldn 't be allowed, kids make messes, see that mess, kids! I was right there helping my son pick up what he spilled while helping my daughter and holding my plate as well, and he acted as if the kids were unattended. Instead of waiting for us to leave the salad bar, he made his salad bar attendant go and clean up the mess UNDER my son 's plate BEFORE HE MOVED! And had an attitude to go with it. After we left the booth, he came out and watched us eat while he stood in the doorway to the kitchen making snide remarks about kids to his employee, thinking we couldn 't hear him. Well, we could, and I even told my husband if he says one more thing we leave and we aren 't paying a dime. My son was very embarrassed and couldn 't understand why the man was mad at him. Just for that alone, we made the decision not to go back to eat their package mixed, gravy covered, undercooked food ever again. The time of day we went: 1:30pm I homeschool my kids and they were being as polite as they could, his attitude lost a customer of at least 10 years. Family friendly place? I think not.

After going through these reviews, I’ve discovered the bad ones are mostly for the Ole West Steak House in Athens…NOT the Bean and Burger here in Mabank. Check your addresses everyone. Be careful not to give bad reviews to wrong place.

Prices are a bit much. Found a hair in my food and the cook said there was no way a hair was in it. I think the bus men are drunk on the job. My husband wasn’t finished with his food the bus man took his plate and threw it away. Waitress McKenna definitely needs training.
