Bidra med feedbackWe ate here twice while we stayed at a VRBO outside of Lucca, Once for a meat dinner and once for a seafood meal. The waiter put the meal together and we just ate and had a great time. The waiters were incredible and the food was the best. I would recommend this place to anyone, a true hidden gem!
Last day of our visit in Tuscany: We were looking for a nice restaurant nearby and found the Il gattino bianco by chance: Lucky us! The restaurant was about to get closed for the day, so we were the last guests. Although it was very chilly (for Italian people) the crazy Germans (us) wanted to sit outside the waiter handled it very bravely! The food was great and the waiter was friendly, helpful and quite amusing! Also the chef wanted to meet us and insisted to have a shot with us. All in all we highly recommend the restaurant and would definetly come back!
We stopped at this restaurant while waiting for family to arrive prior to checking in to our villa close by. Although during the lunch period we asked if we could have just coffee, which was not a problem. We then decided to eat and asked for the menu. Although not extensive there was a decent variety. While waiting to choose, the owner came out with two lobsters on a plate and asked if we would like this. Very unexpected and my jaw must of hit the floor! Had half a lobster each in a very tasty tomato sauce nice. Based on this experience we came back for an evening meal and a breakfast. This is a small restaurant next to a fairly busy road, which might put people off. On my experience I would say don't let this put you off. If you want a decent simple meal at very good value, where the owner and his team will do their best to look after you, then give this restaurant a try.
A local restaurant with a great quality food at reasonable prices and generous portions. Highly recommended the main seafood appetizer that consists of sampling of all on the items on the antipasti menu with Fiori DI zucca as favorites. Tagliata di tonno also exceptional.
When I go to Gattino Bianco, which I do almost once a week, sometimes more, I listen to what the chef/owner suggests as the fresh fish of the day. The antipasti di mare are absolutely wonderful, his mussels are some of the best you could ever have, I love his linguine with baby clams, lots of garlic, and bottarga (dried fish roe). I often get the fish he suggests on the grill, perfect tender line caught fish. His cantuccini (Americans see them as biscotti (which means cookie) are home made and truly excellent. You won 't get fish this fresh at this price at nearby restaurants on the beach.
