Bidra med feedbackWe love to eat Middle Eastern and had to check saffron. decided to try it on a Sunday. it was easy to reach both with metered street parking and with non-sized parkings behind the building. it had customers, but wasn't packed so we got a table right away that was nice. the waiter was friendly, helpful and efficient. he brought a free pallet cleaning plate of greens, radishes, gurke and feta with a thin tearable brot to the table. some restaurants have menus that go on forever. saffron has a beautiful variety without being overwhelming. we ordered two appetizers the chilled spinat and the watch. the spinach was good, the quail was great. for the main course for various dishes were ordered; chicken meat barkabs, filet ground bark kebabs, seafood stew and a spinat bark dish. all came with jasmin or basmati rice, grilled vegetables and a middle eastern salad. the dishes were arranged artistically and a joy to eat! we all shared around the table and everything was wonderful. the chicken kebabs with Persian seasonings were tasteful and delicate. the meeress stew was a delicate balance of seasoning, which made the meeress themselves taste. the two bark dishes were tender and tasty. we ordered all three desserts and although I personally were not a big fan of chocolate, ice or baklava they were all very good. they can only catch wisely on the rose water and saffron in the ice. the baklava is not too sweet, as I find it is at most places. the chocolate bomb is tender, rich, but not too sweet again, as I find it in most places. saffron’s is a restaurant where I like to go back and explore the menu further. oh, and either there was no music in the backrooms or it was in a band where it did not hit our conversation. this is a huge plus!
This restaurant had a nice atmosphere and great food. The waitress was friendly and sociable. The appetizers could be kicked up a couple notches it felt like it was an after thought. Overall enjoyed it and will definitely be back again.
Nice quiet restaurant with fantastically made food. Clean dining area and more importantly clean kitchen. We had never had Persian food before, but it seemed a lot like Mediterranean cuisine. I wasn’t super hungry and got the quail appetizer that was superb, and my husband ordered the beef stew which he loved. Allen was an extremely friendly waiter who told us stories about the paintings and provided excellent service. Please check it out
The food is very good and the service is personal. Our waiter was very helpful in helping explain foods that were unfamiliar. Nice atmosphere too.
I've been going to Jack Fry's for probably 20 years, and it really is an all time classic of Louisville dining. You go here for steady favorites, not inventive modern cooking. That said, it executes very well. More classic than hip. Great place for couples.
