Bidra med feedbackIt really pains me to write this because the owners are such legitimately nice people, but being nice doesn 't make up for the complete ineptitude of the staff. Roland Wines holds the distinction of being the ONLY establishment to not bring me the food I ordered, TWICE in a row, several months apart. The last time this happened, I was seated indoors, and I watched two full tables who arrived well after I did get fully served. After literally an hour and a half, I asked the waitress how long it takes to get a pizza out, and she said, Yours is next, we 've just been really busy . She then went to the pizza chef who started making my pizza right away. The kitchen had been idle for at least 15 minutes when I asked, so clearly they somehow lost my order. If the waitress had admitted that, apologized, offered to comp it or at least discount it, I 'd have been far more appreciative, and would have come back sooner. Fast forward to my most recent visit. I ordered 20 minutes before the band was set to start, and I told the person who took my order that I was sitting outside by the band at the same table Marc Roland (the owner) was sitting. Just like last time, an hour and a half later, I still didn 't have my food. Being an engineer, I now had a second datum point, and opted to wait to see if my food would suddenly arrive. A full two hours and 20 minutes later, after the band had finished, I still didn 't have my order. I was issued a refund when I asked for it, and the person who gave me my refund apologized, but this was the last nail in the coffin. I 'm NEVER going back to Roland Wines, regardless of what band is playing. I recommend that nobody else goes, either, unless your a longtime family friend of the Rolands or are a family member (they seem to take care of their own).
Roland Wines is one of the most unique establishments I 've ever visited. To say the ambiance is casual is an understatement, and it seems to be a family-run business. There are no uniforms or name tags for employees, so trying to determine who works there can be tough, especially if there is nobody behind the counter. While this frustrated me at first, I was greeted shortly after my arrival by an incredibly kind person who asked if she could get me something. She brought me a menu and took my order while I enjoyed the live music. The menu is small and specialized, which I appreciate. The wines are not surprisingly the focus here. Not being a consumer of alcohol, I opted for San Pellegrino sparkling juice beverages. I was very impressed with the provision of a thick frozen glass with the beverages, which was a lovely touch. The food was better than expected. The wood-fired pizzas are the stars of the show. Far better than I 'd had at many pizzerias. I opted for the Calabrese-laden Beautiful pig ; tasty, but no discernible capsaicin punch that some Calabrese varieties provide. The focaccia didn 't fare quite as well, being very heavy on the cheese. It is thoughtfully served with olive oil and balsamic vinegar, though, which does a great job of cutting through the heaviness of the cheese. The biggest surprise when everybody in the business was served complimentary brownies and vanilla ice cream. I still have no idea if this was from a birthday celebration of some sort, of if this is routine, but I 've never experienced this anywhere else, and thinking about it still makes me smile. It was an incredibly kind gesture, and is like something you 'd see in a movie that never happens in real life, but it happened here! By the end of my visit, I was completely blown away by how amazingly fun and great a time I had. The owners are amazingly nice people, the clientele were all amazingly engaging and friendly (I was invited into conversations with two different groups who presumably noticed that I was by myself). I really cannot say enough nice things about Roland Wines, and can 't wait for my next visit!
Roland wine is a wonderful place to visit. Their wood fired pizza is very good. They sell wine by the bottle and or glass. Wine prices are not bad at all. Prices are what you would expect to pay for a good bottle wine. We had a pizza with the Cabernet. The Cabernet was great! Staff was very helpful and friendly. COVID as the date of the review covid rules are in place. They are very cautious and good with the COVID rules.
I finally got a chance to visit Roland Wines. I was so glad I did! What an amazing place to have here in Longview. Family owned by long time residents, it provides and ambiance and class I have yet to see here. The wood fired pizza was very tasty and the in house wine was incredible (I tried several). My only complaint was I waited to damn long to visit sooner. They have a future customer for sure and I look forward to what else this place brings! Thank you Roland Wines!
After having tried 3 of your wines over the course of a few days I am definitely a fan. After having been treated so kindly and compassionately by the owner I'm all in. I cannot thank you enough for the compassion shown to 2 sisters, standing in the rain, just after you locked up, and taking the time to helping us make a purchase for a much needed difficult family gathering. Your wine was delicious and your heart was kind. Thank you!
