During our search for good beer in Winchmore Hill during a bank holiday weekend, we stumbled upon this restaurant. The only real ale they had available was Doombar, which is a delicious beer, but I prefer a wider selection. The decor is modern and attractive, with a dining area, outdoor seating, and a cozy spot with couches. We opted for the couches and perused the menu, which offered some interesting options. Wanting some chips, we ordered three portions for our group of five. As a fan of triple-cooked chips, I was excited for a crispy treat, but unfortunately, the chips were soggy and disappointing. If a pub can't get chips right, it's a red flag. I'm not sure if I would return, as I prefer a place with good chips and a variety of real ales.
I really enjoy this pub. It has become much busier in the past year, attracting a diverse crowd of people of all ages who come to eat and drink. They offer a good selection of ales and lagers, as well as a nice wine list that is reasonably priced. The food is delicious, freshly made by the two chefs on site. The portions are generous as well. My only complaint is that the place can get uncomfortably hot, but they have a beer garden where you can cool off. Overall, it's worth a visit - the food is better than the Salisbury and it's not as chaotic as the Kings Head.
