Bidra med feedbackI’m sorry to say but whilst the portion sizes may have grown, the food was awful. I had most unappetising Caribbean salad which chicken breast. The salad was chucked on a plate and there was so much chicken but it was awful dry and hard with no flavour. Whilst the staff were lovely it was too busy to even tell the one person serving how bad the food was. I have eaten here many times before but I think this will be the last time. We also had the platter and it was most all cold. I really want to say something positive but it was a very disappointing meal for me, I left hungry and over £40 out of pocket:
Been visiting Negril for over a decade now. The food is consistently delicious. I could happily drink mugs of their gravy. Portion size always generous and rum punch is great. The service can occasionally be hit and miss. But it’s worth it for what are pretty reasonably priced meals. Whenever I have family visiting Brixton who haven’t tried Caribbean food before I always make sure to take them to Negril and we’ve never been disappointed!
What a disaster, i booked a table for me and my family (3 of us in total) on Friday the 9th the person that answered the phone was lackluster to say the least, this was supposed to be my birthday celebration meal and it was between The Taperia in Tooting Broadway which is owned by a dear friend of mine but at the last minute i decided that i would patronize a black owned business as i had worked in Brixton Prison for over 8 years and had become friendly with the owner Tanya what mistake that was. Upon arrival at 3.30pm we wwre waiting by the door to be seated for a few minutes until i spotted a young lady in the kitchen and called out to her, there were 3 people eating outside so they were not busy, when she came i told her that i had a booking and she said that we could sit anywhere. She bought the paper menus to the table and i asked for a cocktail which she said she could not prepare as she was underage, fair enough we ordered a bottle of red wine, water and a lemonade, she bought the red wine in an ice cooler with ice and no wine glasses, i informed her that ted wine doea not need to be on ice and that we would be requiring glasses and for the bottle (non screw tap) and an opener, she said that she did not know how to open a bottle of wine and that however she was underage and not able to open the wine, my partner told her that if she bought us the corkscrew he would open it, she came back a little later and asked us is this a corkscrew to which we replied yes my partner then proceeded to open the bottle, we made our order (see the bill) and the food came promptly and was nice and hot, fresh and tasty but the atmosphere and service was terrible, when we asked for salt we were bought 2 packets of salt (similar to the ones you get in takeaway shops), after the meal we were not asked how the food was, would we like any more drinks or dessert, the waitress simply asked us do you want the bill to which we said yes at this point we couldn 't wait to leave, if the service had not been included this would have been the first time that we would have not left a tip as the experience was awful, i had asked the waitress if she was new to the job she said thst she wasn 't, training and guidance is for sure needed, highly disappointed we went to The White Horse where we had some lovely Mojito 's and played pool in a lovely lively atmosphere.
Food was good and the portions were just right for us. Will definitely visit again to try other dishes.
I booked a table for quite a large party at short notice and they were really accommodating. I spoke to a gentleman named Nathan (the manger I think) and he was so polite and understanding with any changes that I needed. The staff are very attentive, lovely and patient considering we were a group of 11. On to the food... absolutely great! Definitely authentic enough for the older generation with a few modern twists to suit the younger generation of diners. I would also like to add their cocktails are cute, taste really good and the homemade juices hit the spot.
