We really wanted to love this restaurant, but unfortunately it fell short. The reservation process was simple enough; submitted a reservation request early in the week and received a response to confirm a few hours later. On arrival the maitre d'hotel gave us a nice backstory about the table. The funny story made us a bit better that we were placed right next to the front door, a table above the toilet and a simple earplug from the staff collection area, although it seems to be other available tables. The appetizer, Escargot with a puff bakery, was amazing. The soup, butternut and duck was really delicious. But then the salads came; one was good. The other, not all right. The salad had not been properly washed. Little pieces of writing in it. The duck, fish, had the same frisée type of salad on it and again, small pieces of dirt in the salad, which would also spoil the best tasting of dishes. Apart from the small pieces of the Grit, the fish wrapped with Prosciutto was not delicious at all. None of the flavors really worked with the others. I stretched off the prosciutto and eat only the fish to not go as hungry as I arrived. The fish was edible, but not something I enjoyed. The desserts were good, not bad, but very unnoticed. Actually, it's a few days later that I write this for the life of me, I can't even remember what was either dessert. Bill came to $280 for two people who had a wine flight for one person and a Coca-Cola for the other. The wine flight was remarkable, which is the reason for the second star. It was a nice change of routine to drive to Livingston for a Saturday night, but we won?t back to the 2nd St Bistro.
The best culinary experience in Montana! Every single course was incredible! Like the wine pairing. The menu changes every month and October was fabulous. You got your table for the night. You don't feel like you're rushing so they can turn the table. You can actually dinate and enjoy entertainment as each course is presented at the right time. The attention to detail is amazing. From the owner to the chef to the servers they take care of your experience! Very recommended!!!!
I was in Bistro 3 and half a year ago 9/9/22. It was a wonderful experience. I visited friends who are local Livingston, MT and business owners in the municipality. I came back to visit and I suggested we go back to the bistro. You haven't eaten in the bistro since Covid. We all went back and we wanted us not to have it. The food was very good, but Lauren the servers treated us like garbage. The complete attitude and cold disregard was palable with a superficial kind of smile to fall completely in disgust as it would go away. You need to register online to make reservations, so we have set us for 7:30 for 8:00. We do not know why Lauren had such a foul attitude and treated us with complete contempt. Menu on $85, we ordered wine, mixed drinks, and we dressed quite casual. One of us just had the city 4.06 mile Night Owl Run. $435 bill. Only Tipped $85, which we would normally type more, but our second thought was that we had much less tipped and told the manager what my friends know. After a few drinks, we thought they had no open ear for our experience. Bye bye
Great selection of good beer. Tasty, bar style food. Friendly staff. Reasonable price. Would stop by again next time we're passing through.
