Bidra med feedbackWe came here for an evening meal and having not been for sometime we realised it was pre covid since we last came so decided it was time to come back we were so glad we did. The surrounding are as always warm welcoming, our table was ready for us and although we were quite early we had a drink first we’re given some menus and told we could take our seats at our leisure by the wonderful waitress whose name I sadly did not get but was friendly gave great natural service. We chose for starters between us the Pigeon Breast with black pudding celeriac purée and the Crevettes with garlic Alioli. Both good sized portions and cooked perfectly especially the pigeon breast. For mains we opted for slow cooked shin beef with creamy mash, veg a Jus and the Gray ox burger which came with a very generous portion of fries, salad homemade onion rings. Both extremely filling the beef melted in the mouth. We were so full we simply could not fit in a dessert maybe next time. It was nice to be back and see that nothing had changed in the standards quality of food. We certainly won’t leave it as long next time to come back.
What can I say but absolutely superb in every way from the food to the service. Millie our waitress was absolutely brilliant, and the food was amazing,it was my third visit here and it didn't fail to impress. We had the sirloin and sides, absolutely delighted with our choices, and the peppercorn sauce was the best I've had. I would strongly recommend here
This was a birthday lunch treat for myself, my partner had got a deal via Groupon, she had been here years ago and had a great evening here. On this occasion we were welcomed by the owner, he was warm, engaging, knowledgeable about all menus, both food drink. We had for starters: Seared king scallops, crispy chorizo, celeriac truffle puree, Confit duck leg, pomegranate, mint, coriander, crispy shallots, soy, plum chilli dressing, both were fabulous, we shared. For mains we both had the 10oz 32-day aged Waterford Farm, Yorkshire grass-fed sirloin steak, hand-cut chips, roasted field mushroom, rocket and parmesan salad, with a Peppercorn and Blue Cheese sauce, superbly cooked and full of all the right flavours. For dessert we shared (as we were full) a Vanilla Cointreau crème Brule, ginger shortbread, again delicious, hit the sweet spot perfectly. I highly recommend this venue for either a fabulous meal or just a pop in for a drink. We thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience and will defiantly be back soon.
Family of 4 with GROUPON, I had the scallops with chorizo, really enjoyed theses, cooked perfect, husband had duck leg salad, said it was very tasty and a nice size portion. My two boys both enjoyed their starter of soup and prawns. For the main, I had hake with celeriac and pea what a dish, I really enjoyed this they were all cooked perfect and a nice size portion. My husband had beef cheek he said it just melted in his mouth, and again was really tasty. Both of my boys had the burger which looked really nice. Both boys said they enjoyed it. Overall the food was AMAZING really tasty. Service was a little slow, did have to ask after 10-15 mins at the bar, if we order there or will will the waitress take our order, the waitress appeared straight away, after ordering our order arrived 10 mins later perfect. I personally would recommend the pub and will be returning in the very near future. My compliments to the chef
Our second visit here and we absolutely loved it,the young lady who waited on us was brilliant and the food was amazing, starter's we had the scallops and chorizo and duck leg salad. The scallops were cooked perfectly and my salad was beautiful. We picked fish and chips for our mains and what a choice we made. I can honestly say they were the best I've ever had and I was in the fish and chip shop industry for 10 years, the batter was so crisp and the fish was done to perfection, the chips were proper homemade one's not greasy at all and the mushy peas with a hint of mint were beautiful. An amazing place
