Restaurante Adega Dantas - Lisboa

We arrived here just before closing time, although we did not know that at the time. We ordered some small plates , rice with tomato, salad, spring rolls and samosas, and were amazed at the large sizes of everything. Very tasty, very inexpensive, we recommend this restaurant and its lovely staff. Despite the late hour the staff did not in any way rush us, we were able to eat and enjoy our food at our own pace.

Went there for the first (and last) time with a group of friends and between the first and last served dish was enough time to the food to get cold the result was one of us starting to eat when the others had already finished. Then when we wanted to pay the employee told us to split the bill equally for everyone, against our will. Told us it was the way the restaurant works which is ilegal and ridiculous. Asked for the official complaints book and suddenly the manager felt like just receiving the money honestly. In general, overpriced food and just not worth the trouble. Do not recommend.

Good food on the whole and very generous portions. We loved the fried octopus with rice and cod dishes, wasn't a big fan of the monkfish and prawn rice, although the portion was enormous. Reasonably priced mains but the bread, butter, pate and cheese starters that they bring out will all be charged for separately. We didn't eat the cheese but the pate was pricey for what it was, so beware. We also asked for tap water and were given, and charged for, mineral water.... Sigh. A good restaurant but you have to be careful of the add ons, which they're quite forceful with.

They kindly bring some starter, bread, butter and sardine pate on the table when you sit, even before you have seen the menu. We tasted most of what they bring. Of course they didn't mention everything you eat will be added to the bill. Result: extra 8-9 euros (around 25% of the bill for us this day!!! . We felt like we had been scammed, they kindly bring something, mention nothing then ask you to pay. All the other restaurants we had in lisbon offered the bread and other things as part of the meal.

Very good food, excellent service and good price. We had different things and we all liked our choices.
