Bidra med feedbackHand rolled ice cream is all the rage these days. I was a bit apprehensive coming to check out Pandan as my experiences with rolled ice cream have been just so so. It's located next door to Gracia Afrika. We dropped by after dinner on a Wednesday evening. Just a few girls were in front of us so the wait wasn't too long. They had three workers manning the stations and it took about 5 minutes to make. There were six flavours of the day along with two vegan options and popsicles. The cream comes from Waterloo, QC yeah, you read that right. Who knew there was a Quebec Waterloo? Bonus: no preservatives or synthetic additives are in their cream. Strawberry hibiscus $6.50) topped with shortbread cookies, the ice cream was creamy, smooth and fresh. The strawberry sauce drizzle was a nice touch. Honestly, you don't need to get your own cup. It's the perfect amount to share. Cash or debit only!
Crèmerie Pandan has been on my list for a very short time. My friend Nantha, who is this uber popular Pop-Up chef in Montreal (and across the world for that matter) wrote something about his daughter opening up a crèmerie on Notre-Dame. Not any kind of crèmerie... one that makes thai rolled ice cream. Excuuuuuse me! I totes had to hit that.
To start with , me and my friends went there on a friday affternoon , we were planning to grab a bowl of ice cream roll and eat it at the park nearby ,so we came in , and I think there were 3 person ahead of us , but 2 peoples left because it was taking too long to order and I was the last one to order among my friends so i had to wait 3 orders in total before getting mine so lets start by saying Good thing about this place : Nice experience , since she is making it in front of your eyes Cute bowl with rolled ice cream New in mtl Bad things about this place I find it is abit overprice for rolled ice cream that taste the same as a regular ice cream it melts really fast , we ended up not eating it at the park since it was already melting once we 've received it slow service , i couldn 't blame the girl who was making it cuz first of all it was her first day of work , and second it was a pretty long process to do , but we saw the girl who going back and forth , and writing down the menu for over an hour , idk if shes the owner or just a supervisor and didnt help this girl at all my order was matcha with tapioca, and the supervisor /owner or wtv just write it down on the menu , but the new girl doesnt know how to do that , so she had to call her and ask ,... but logically if you just hired a girl you 're suppose to tell her how to do it , before actually writing it down on the menu) but anyways ,... I got my bowl , the owner saw the bowl and ask the girl who was making it how come its so small? But anyways.. so she gave it to me and said your ice cream is pretty small but it 's ok after she said that, I actually thought that she was going to give me a discount or something but it ended up, she charged me full price which is 6$ something . I didnt say anything that day and leave , but I made up my mind that i would never come back , i find it is really not worth it , waiting an hour to get a regular ice cream taste with this kind of service...
Recently opened ice cream shop in saint-henri that specializes in the famous thai rolled ice cream. place is small, selection is minimal, lovely owner, decently good ice cream (need improvement), the rolled ice cream is quite interesting to say the least. i enjoy watching the process of making it. very easy if you have the right tool (the ice sheet) during the week, it is pretty quiet therefore no lineup. weekends on the other hand, wait can be quite long. probably longer than kem coba but without as many patrons. there's place for improvements. since they opened not long ago, they still need to get their footing and will, hopefully, improve as time goes
