Bidra med feedbackUpon our initial arrival, the car park was full and we had to park on a grass verge in the village, which was not ideal. The gentleman who greeted us was friendly and quickly got our drinks sorted. However, we had to wait for our table and there was some confusion with our drinks. This led to a bit of drink swapping, which was more humorous than anything. The starter (pate) was bland and the toast seemed to be pre-packaged. The lamb shank main dish was overcooked and very dry. Our children's pudding (ice cream) was larger than my creme brulee, which made me question the portion sizes. The taste was decent, but there was too much syrup, making it more like a budget creme caramel. The biggest issue was the service, as the waiter was rude and seemed disinterested. Overall, it was a disappointing experience.
My husband and I had forgotten about the school house restaurant, but we are so happy we rediscovered it. The staff and food were excellent, and they were kind and thoughtful. The manager made my birthday meal a memorable one. The restaurant is clean and the food is fresh and tasty. The prices are very reasonable, and they also offer good prices on wine and beer. It's refreshing not to be ripped off in this day and age. We will definitely make this our go-to restaurant again. - Mrs. Pike
This is a fantastic restaurant. The staff are very attentive and the food is some of the best we've had, especially at Sunday lunch. The manager, Chris, is very efficient and ensures everything runs smoothly.
We booked for Christmas day lunch several months ago as a treat and have dined here usually on special occasions in the main restaurant but it was full so we reserved a table in the Pavilion. We were greeted by a friendly host who escorted...us to our table. Drinks order was promptly taken and quickly arrived as did the starter. The starters were all different and were well presented and tasty. I take on board other reviews that the staff do not wear masks but it is not mandatory to do so (although personally I'd of preferred them to) however I agree in the Pavilion there is little ventilation and our party was concerned with the volume of people in here and the Covid situation. No sooner we had finished the starter it was removed and within a couple of minutes the main course of roast turkey appeared. The turkey itself was fine but the roast potatoes and stuffing balls were over cooked. The vegetables were underwhelming and it was only as the cleared the plates they enquired if we would like any more vegetables or potatoes which was too late and an odd thing to ask at this point. Yet again they wanted to bring out the desserts straight away but at this point we asked them to give us minutes. Desserts arrived then coffee etc. We asked for the bill which took nearly minutes to arrive despite asking twice in between and informed they would sort it asap. So this meal is a head and a statuary service charge is added automatically to the overall bill. The staff as this review is titled are organised, work hard, polite and courteous to the customer. We all felt the service was rushed and the meal banged out at such a pace for a special occasion it felt as if we were in a canteen. The food wasn't that great and we've had better meals there on other occasions so yes we will go back but not for Christmas day.
Food was great and staff were lovely BUT NO covid safety measures evident. Staff serving were not wearing masks as in most restaurants, restricted bar area didn’t enable social distancing, no one wearing masks while moving around, no covid pass even though this had a...dance floor with disco. When the act tells you a member went down with Covid today you wonder if the others should be isolating. The act was poor…waving arms around and flat. We weren’t the first to leave. Sorry but not a good experience overall and I really didn’t feel safe in the venue. A management disaster.
