Lakeside Bistro - Lichfield

Our friends suggested spending a day at Beacon Park, so on a beautiful sunny day we decided to visit. Since we were hungry, we chose to have lunch at a restaurant there. The service was efficient, but the staff were not very friendly. They took our order, but then informed us that they were out of a certain item. We changed our order and waited for our food. When it was ready, a staff member called out our order number and then left it on a side table for us to collect ourselves. This lack of attentiveness and unfriendliness made us feel dissatisfied with the overall experience.

I know it is difficult for caffes with covid to handle, but many caffes manage it in a cheerful and welcoming way. I'm not here! the staff is rude and not very friendly. I wouldn't go back. it used to be very nice... but it went downhill, which is a terrible shame.

The restaurant was extremely welcoming with a lovely atmosphere. The children's playground kept the kids entertained while we waited for our food. The portions were generous and all the dishes were delicious. The salads came with balsamic vinegar dressing. The highlight was definitely the children's meals, which included a fruit shoot and a hot basket meal. We tried the "chicken breast bites and chips" and they were made with real, tasty breast meat. We will definitely be returning! Plus, it's worth noting that dogs are welcome inside as well.

I was hesitant to write this review, but after seeing three recent posts on TripAdvisor, it seems our experience at this cafe was unfortunately not unique. The employees seem to have no concept of customer service, as evidenced by their eye rolling, sniffing, and making faces behind customers' backs (which I witnessed firsthand). This cafe has the potential to be a great spot, with a fantastic location and no immediate competition. However, it is disappointing that the service is lacking and the food is only mediocre. A simple friendly greeting can go a long way, and the staff should focus more on efficiency rather than being dismissive towards customers who are just trying to place an order or pay for their meal. Overall, our experience was immature, pathetic, and unworthy of our patronage.

The food here is not bad at all but sadly the staff are very rude, obstructive and make visiting the cafe an uncomfortable and intimidating experience. The so call chef swore at me when I made a very normal request in a polite manner and...then proceeded to stand and snigger and make rude comments about me whilst I waiting for my food. Complaint was made but nothing has changed and they same staff are still working there so I will be avoiding in future. Shame.
