Bidra med feedbackI have heard many intriguing reviews about this pub, so I was eager to check it out. It is in a great location and has the potential to become a favorite spot for us. Unfortunately, our experience was marred by a group of staff who seemed overwhelmed, led by a rude and stressed manager. Her customer service skills were abrupt and aggressive towards both her team and patrons. If I were the owner of this pub, I would be concerned about the staffing strategy in place.
This was such a lovely find in an area which does not seem to have a great number of hotels to choose from. The food (dinner and breakfast) was absolutely on point. The room was lovely with every amenity we could ask for a coffee machine, white linen robes etc....And to top it all off, Ben the barman collected us from the fireworks in Lewes when all the taxis were booked up/no longer taking bookings! Bravo Ben and the rest of the team at The Ram will definitely be back!
The Ram is located at the end of a quiet lane in the heart of the Firle village. It is heavily associated with artists Virginia Woolf lived in Firle for example. The Inn itself is a lovely old building constructed in wood and flint with a number of cosy rooms for dining. we stayed the night in Beanstalk which is quiet and located above the dining room very comfortable with a well appointed en suite bathroom. We dined there, too good local produce and friendly service. Great breakfast, as well.
October lunch called in and sat outside for a pint and some lunch all ok and reasonable approx £22 head for a pint and 1 course service charge added, which on reflection was a bit odd. Well located for some great walks
We stopped by without a reservation on Saturday evening after visiting Charleston nearby and were able to secure a nice table. Our three course meals were all excellent. The boeuf bourguignon was rich and delicious, while the hake was perfectly grilled and served with a light, creamy root vegetable purée. The service was friendly and efficient. This gastropub is top-notch and located in a charming village near the A27 and Lewes.
