Sinceramente, o mar de Pedrogão não estava para peixe. Um agirado, que alguns candidatos à surfista, arriscaram.
Just ordered the complete vegetarian Burger. But it just comes the patty. Tried to explain my wishes, but they could not help me. Everything should be right. :
Food was very poor, similar to what you get at a supermarket or transport cafe in Portugal, certainly not resturant standard. My wife has pork steak and I had breaded chicken, for 10-11 euros I expected more, frozen chips, the thinnest chicken steak I have ever seen, you could see daylight through it if it wasnt for the huge amount of shop bought orange breadcrumbs on it. Side salad consisted of 1 lettuce leaf and 2 slices of tomato. Some very greasy tasting rice, like it had been cooked in a dirty pan. My wifes pork was like shoe leather and inedible, similar attempt at a side salad and same bad tasting rice. Also the kitchen is right next to the public toilets and close by open cabinets with the raw fish and shelfish. Could not say I would go there again or recommend to anyone felt ripped off at just short of 30 euros. Could be ok for a bottle of beer and look at the sea.
Mares Vivas has a great beachfront position. To be able to sit in the full sun in October...wonderful. Listening to the waves crash and breathing in fresh sea air on this most natural of coastlines is a privilege. Tables are positioned on the outdoor terrace right beside the beach, with great views and a relaxed vibe. My dourada was simlpy grilled with perfect seasoning and freshly made chips, all served hot. My husband had prawns and squid kebabs, fresh, tasty and served with flair. I am particuarly recommending Mares Vivas because they had a friendly, prompt service, and the food was hot. A lovely lunch spent on the beach, thank you Mares Vivas
