Wok Express - Leicester

I have been having trouble finding a good Chinese takeaway since my favorite one closed down three years ago. A friend recommended this place to me, so I decided to give it a try tonight. The food was just average, and to make matters worse, the delivery driver was very rude. I think he could use some training in customer service. I won't be ordering from here again.

While the food may occasionally be lacking in flavor, the restaurant offers reasonable prices and a fantastic deal on Mondays. The curry sauce is delicious and the BBQ ribs are always a standout dish.

I have ordered from Wok Express twice. The first time, I had Happy Family and my partner had Mixed Veg in Black Bean Sauce. The second time, he had a mushroom curry and I chose crispy beef in honey sauce. Unfortunately, the food was quite bland. The black bean sauce, which was supposed to be hot, lacked any spice. The crispy beef I had tasted more like churros than actual beef. It was sweet and crunchy, but not enjoyable. The mushroom curry tasted like a mixture of béchamel sauce and curry powder, with a strong flour taste. Overall, we were not impressed with the food.

Regulars ordering from this takeaway so you would believe there would be at least a tiny bit of respect when it comes to calling back about poor service received. Firstly after eating half of a pancake roll, there was a smaller hair within the roll itself, so we called the restaurant to advise and they said they’d send a driver to pick it up for some reason. 5 minutes later my sister found a very long grey hair entwined with a long black hair. So at this point we called justeat (the driver then turned up) very rude tried to state this was our hair... I’m 24 not grey... at this point justeat told us we should receive a refund to tell the driver to call the restraunt to arrange... he didn’t. Instead he laughed and in some way said a poor sorry asked to take the food along with the hair... we called the restaurant ourselves and they were very rude stating we only told them about one hair... of course we didn’t find a second until a few moments later. The restaurant stated they would not consider a full refund until they have completed an investigation into where the hair has come from. Very disgusting service, money wasted vile hygiene.

Excellent value for money.proper king prawn balls and tasty bbq sauce on ribs were the best my partner has ever had.were on time for delivery aswell .reasonably priced food for good quality .
