Bidra med feedbackA little gem! on Tuesday night the main restaurant was really busy, but they managed to fit us. had to start Welsh rarbit, this was really casual, which is always a good start, but the toast maybe just a bit on the soggy side. we both had the ribeye for the main; it was really for to die, homemade chips and béarnaise. what could I ask for more. definitiw back, but will book next time. what a jewellery piece!
Food ambience good, vfm ?. Recently had two 3 course meals on a saturday night on a first visit. Thought the ambience was very nice. menu a little restictive. The chicken liver starter my partner had was very good, my potted crab was to cold and tasteless. My partners chicken supreme was good and so was my cornish plaice (cooked to perfection) however it came with just boiled potatoes and lettuce very unintresting in essence spoilt by attention to detail and a bit pricey for what it was. Luckily we had a side order of chips which were out of this world, both the treacle tart and the dark chocolate puddings were very good. Overall the food was above average to good but the place falls between to stools it is a pub which has pretentions of being a restaurant and charges accordingly a little pricey for what was served. Might go back to give it another chance
I never saw the Stag before the refurbishment, but I've been assured that it's a transformation! I've been to The Stag 3 times now and always had a pleasant experience. You can simply go for a drink or go for the full-blown menu. You won't be disappointed. I also like the decor and attention to detail (always fresh flowers in the entrance bar area, free WiFi). I do think though that the price bracket £10-15 is not in line with the post-refurnishment menu. I'd say The Stag is now within the £20-£25 bracket.
LOVE IT!!. Its a perfect mix of good atmosphere, good food and fairly priced. i am yet to find a fault and we have been here about 10 times since November. Very friendly place and in a beautiful setting
Great atmosphere.. My partner and i popped into The Stag on the way home from work on Friday night. We had one poussin which was tender and full of flavour and one Aubrey Allen steak which was cooked to perfection. With a bottle of wine the bill came to just under £35. Great value! We shall definitely return!!!
