Bidra med feedbackThis place is all about the freshness of the fish and the feu du bois. The restaurant is on a wooden stage built above the water on a beautiful beach. Lots of customers arrive by boat, a rowing boat comes out to meet you and row you to the beach. They are famous for their bouillabaisse a Provençal speciality at 70 euros a head, minimum 2 persons. The sea bass is best value at around 30 euros. The beach is a popular naturist beach so don't bother to visit if you are opposed to naked people!
We love the little hidden beach at Le Layet and we love Chez Jo the little fish restaurant perched on the water there. No fancy gourmet food, just excellent fish and sea food, and hearty atmosphere. Wish we could eat here more often.
It is with a reluctance that I find myself having to post a review of this amazing little restaurant. But it’s so fantastic and such a find off the beaten path that I really am compelled to share its existence with fellow Bons viveurs. The menu is simple fish or meat of the day. Crayfish or bouillabaisse is a house specialty and needs to be ordered in advance. The accompanying potatoes and garlic infused tomatoes are a feast in themselves. The wine list is local and well priced. Excellent champagne at commendable prices. My family’s menu of choice is shared mussels followed by either the superb fresh fish or meat. No need for desert. We’ve been coming here for several years and without doubt, it’s our favourite place in the Var region. You need to book well in advance. Elza and her team are very accommodating and run a great restaurant and beach bar. Away from the restaurant, Miguel looks after the beach. I know of no better treat than spending a glorious day in the vicinity of Chez Jo and treating myself to a post lunch snooze on the beach. Despite the wishes of my family to keep Chez Jo under the proverbial radar, I’m compelled to give it my highest recommendation. Simply wonderful
Nice bar on a calm beack for naturists, the bar has a beautiful view on the creek. The beer is cols and appreciated, the mossels are delicious
