Bidra med feedbackWe were in the cafe district of Le Harve but we could not find any placed to eat at which particularly appealed. Le Sublims looked reasonable so we found a table inside away from the smokers. The menu was a bit limited and some items had sold out by the afternoon so I ordered the fish and pasta. It arrived reasonably fast and it was not good, but just about OK. We ordered Sancerre wine with our meal and we found this to be very nice. The general decor was not attractive and the toilets were a bit cramped but appeared clean. The staff at least made the effort to overcome our poor French language. All in all we were made welcome and given an OK meal each with good wine for under Euros 50 for two people. Given that none of the cafes in the area appeared much better we were happy to eat, drink and leave.
This is a very popular cafe all through the day into the evening. We stayed in a hotel quite near Le Sublim's so it was convenient for us to have morning or afternoon tea and coffee here. There are nice touches such as a complimentary biscuit or croissant depending on the time of day we visited. We didn't eat dinner here but it was certainly full in the evening. Sitting outside was very nice for people watching and felt a very french thing to do. The first time we visited the waitress was a bit surly (perhaps she was having a bad day) but on the other occasions there was a noticeable change and all the staff were very nice. My opinion is that if you try to speak some french (ours was very limited) it makes a difference and is the polite thing to do.
Visited here last week on a cruise visit to La Have. Restaurant very cramped no room for a pushchair for my little Granddaughter, no greeting on our arrival althought the place was not busy. Menu brought to us by a very miserable looking young waitress, menu was not in English which was fine, when we asked the waitress if it would be possible to have milk in my tea I was told NO!!! My daughter who is vegatarian could only have a cheese toastie after the waitress had to ask if this was ok. Food was cold and greasy, toilets not very clean either. Staff very miserable, would not visit again.,
Stopped here for breakfast before getting the morning ferry to Portsmouth. Ordered coffee and crossant which came with an extra little cheese filled crossant perching on top of the cup which would probably been enough but I'm not complaining. Lovely place with that great French morning ambiance - newspaper reading, crosswording, lazy chat - as if no one has a care in the world!!
We stopped in here when visiting this town. Very friendly and typical of France. There were no menus in English so we struggled to order. I had the steak and fries with an onion gravy. Steak was tough and greasy however very flavorful. My wife had the ham and cheese sandwich, which was also tasteful. Lunch, including wine, was $50.
