Situated in the better part of Las Palmas, this restaurant offers a good range of dishes from something small like tapas to a three course meal. We met up with friends and decided that we were going to order starters and mains that we could all share. We ordered croquets, brochette, grilled cheese, squid tips This was then then followed by a crepe filled with cod, shrimps and mushrooms, cubed cherne in a very light batter and grilled lubino. Absolutely fantastic with subtle flavours Excellent deserts but I decided to finish my meal with a platter of Canarian cheese. So good!!!! One recommendation if you are going to eat there on a Friday or Saturday evening then book a table for about 8pm by about 9:30 pm onwards several large parties arrive and whilst the atmosphere is brilliant you might have to wait a while for you meal.
We ended up at this place after a walk. The restaurant was full so they gave us a table next to the bar. It had a nice view over the marina. Ordered a half salad of papaya, rocket salad and shrimp, it was good. The hamburger was good if you like mustard. It came with a side potato that was really bad though. We also ordered a pesto pasta which was great! Definitely possible to get more for the money elsewhere but the area doesn’t have to many places to choose from.
4pm Sunday peak Spanish lunch and the place was heaving and the waiters were run a little ragged. A bit of patience required but then it was Sunday lunch in Spain. They found us a table after a short wait. The service a little slow but it was Sunday lunch in Spain and you have to go with the flow and enjoy it. We had Cherne (stone bass, a meatier, less bony version of sea bass) in two different dishes. Very tasty and well proportioned. As the crowd thinned out the waiters could relax and chat a little. The glass of Magno brandy at the end was served with a lot of theatre with the warming of the glass and the pouring from a height, the waiter getting to show off his professionalism. Oh, and great location on a low rooftop overlooking the large marina.
US tourists in town looking for a great restaurant near the water, but this isn't it. Service was really poor, no one spoke English, pointed to items on the menu that we wanted, apparently got what they wanted to server. Not bad, not great, but everything fried and not a lot of taste. Is this a custom here to bring out bread, which we didn't ask for and then charge you for it? Not sure. Would not go back
