Bidra med feedback(almost) everything was good the service very friendly and helpful, the sushi delicious and fresh...and the bill came very fast. We were not even asked if we wanted to eat or drink something else, nor did we ask for the bill. That was a little unprofessional.
I visited Akemi, for the first time in at least a few years, with M to enjoy a nice lunch repast. It was nice to be here; the atmosphere is relaxed and peaceful – also in the midst of a global pandemic. For me... I think that speaks of the quality of place and space. Speaking of COVID pandemic, I was impressed by the safety procedures carried out here in Akemi. At first, you will be encouraged to sanitate your hands on entering the food. Secondly, all tables in the restaurant are sufficiently spaced to keep the physical distance between the cartridges. Finally, all employees wore face masks and helped prevent the spread of the feared droplets. In the current social landscape, I guess if a facility takes our security seriously. For lunch we ordered: The halibut cheek tempura, grilled black cod, kani (real crab , and the spicy shrimp maki roll. I would have ordered the spicy shrimp cone; but I didn't notice a temaki on the menu? Regardless of this, our selections – in one word – were divine. The Halibut Wangentempura was cooked for perfection. The outer layer was light and crispy, while the healing butter inside was tender and juicy. The grilled black cod, also, was perfection on a plate; in fact, I would go to record, as say, this dish might be more than any other example of what Akemi is best doing: they conduct simple dishes, but do so that it allows the food to speak for themselves, place everything with a mindful eye and presentation. The kani also came with a simple presentation, but was loaded with real Dungeness crab, which I value as seafood aficionado. Finally, the spicy shrimp maki roll was made very beautiful. The coating was elegant; the roll was tightly packed; and the ingredients were evenly incorporated. Truly, as far as taste and execution go, it is difficult to beat Akemi on the curator. Beyond the food I appreciated Akemi's relaxed atmosphere. It allowed M and I to have a nice conversation while enjoying enjoyable sushi snacks treats. In fact, it is a shame M will leave Victoria for elsewhere, but at the same time it is an exciting new adventure. Thank you. FOOD: 5/5 SERVICE: 5/5 VALUE: 5/5 RECOMMENDATION: I care Akemi is home to one of the best sushi on the Wegrader. True to their name (Akemi means “Bright, beauty”, they present simple Japanese dishes that are lively and beautifully presented. The grilled black cod shows this to a tea. As I said, sometimes it's just the best. Very recommended! PS: If you have found this review helpful in any way, please note to meet the helpful button!
We had a nice lunch there. Interesting menu and many choices. The monkey role was good and the service was also.
We called for a reservation at 6:00 p.m. on a Friday night for 6 people at 6:30 and they were able to accommodate us. When we arrived, our table was ready. Our server was friendly, but it took longer than expected to order our food. The restaurant was 3/4 full with only 2 servers who were not in a rush. We ordered Tuna Tataki, prawn tempura, Akemi Roll, and Dragon Boat for 4. We requested the tuna tataki and shrimp to come out first, but they did not. The food was fresh and delicious!! I would recommend this place if you are not in a hurry.
I didn't want to write a negative review but the place was full when we got there, it took a long time for a server to bring water, food came out at different times, and the tuna in the sushi roll was grey. I can't...recommend this place. Servers were pleasant but the place is so inefficiently run that they couldn't adequately attend to all the tables.
