Bidra med feedbackWe went for lunch there, from outside it looks cosy and also inside it was nice. I ordered the Picanha, but that they did not have and settled for the dish of the day, which was Cozido a Portuguesa. That was a bowl full of pieces of pork which I could not recognise, fat and bone. One piece of smoked meat that I ate and blood sausage I do not eat. Not a good plate of food! The waiter, did not offer the soup that goes with the plate of the day, blessing in disguise! My husband ordered a steak, well that was ice cold, he sent it back and they reheated it. That was their signature dish! I will not recommend this place.
This restaurant was in expensive. But it's basic meats a bit tough. House wine not great. If you are hungry and can't find anything else it will do. They had gluten free. Beer soft drinks. Toilets are clean. There is an English menu available.
Looks appealing with its terrace, but as that was not in use we went inside. The waiter hovered around our table until we had ordered. As it was lunch and we were driving on to Viseu, we wanted a light meal. My wife ordered a vegetable soup, and I had the mixed grill, featuring sausage, ham, spare ribs and pork belly. We decided on beer rather than wine as we had to drive later. The soup was served cold; it was reheated, then my wife ejected it as totally tasteless but for the remains of washing up liquid in the bowl. My mixed grill was overcooked (perhaps deliberately) as it had a dreadful taste of badly kept pork. The sausage was floury and, frankly, repulsive. This dish was also rejected. I paid for the covers we had consumed and the beers, and declined to pay for the soup and mixed grill, which was accepted without demur by the waiter, who was obviously used to this type of reaction from diners. We had observed other guests sending back their dishes for one reason or another we knew why. Appalling!
This Restaurant is an absolute disgrace, putting to shame the tradition of great Portuguese restaurants. From the outside it looked promising, a nice location and well decorated venue. Problems started once we decided to actually have a meal in. Waiters walked by us, a party of 6 like we didn't exist, took them a while to actually acknowledge our presence . After a reasonable waiting time we were seated and that's when it began. The menu had several different options to select and we all chose differently. Not one of them was done right and the portions were not adult size at all. We voiced our concerns to the waiter, first with humor which were dismissed with shuddered shoulders, we protested further and requested the bill to be issued as soon as possible. It took them ages to get the bill done, as expected, no discount was applied and apologies were mumbled by the waiter. To sum up our experience, we left hungry and upset. This Restaurant clearly does not care about customers nor providing them with quality food. There are several good Restaurants in this region, this is definitely NOT one of them. Ah .........forgot to mention, there was a fly inside the house wine bottle but I guess that's just part of the Restaurant's complimentary service.....
We would not have found this one without the Lonely Planet Portugal guide as it's on the second floor so you need to know, but it's great Food, great value and overlooking Lamego. Well Worth it to spend some extra time in the lounge area to enjoy Your vino verde.
