Bidra med feedbackPopped in one Sunday whilst passing through and we were so happy we did! Amazing roasts including the holy grail that is the veggie roast WITH veggie gravy. Yum. Meat eating other half said his pork roast had the best crackling he has ever tasted. Great selection of beers and ciders and don't even get me started on the cheeseboard! Oooooo and the music! Great tunes by Donny Hathaway, James Brown, Shugie Otis and Doctor John to name but a few. Add to all of this the most amazing hospitality, a real fire, board games and basically you will never want to leave. Unpretentious and completely heartwarming. Thank you.
I had a fantastic evening meal on a Thursday night at this pub with my wife and son. I loved the fact that it was away from the high street in a quite residential area. The food was really nice and made freshly. The fish and chips dish had a lovely piece of cod in a crispy batter served with fresh home made fries. Fantastic. The atmosphere was very relaxed and the staff were most welcoming. The barman allowed me to taste the foreign beer that I was not familiar with and I was impressed so I ended up ordering it. The prices were very reasonable and we will definitely dine in here again.
This isn't the first time I've had Sunday lunch here and it sure won't be the last. I'm not sure that's in the Gravy but it is fantastic. A. whole leg of chicken with herb, roast carrots, parsnips and plenty of roast potatoes finished off with fresh French beans lovely. Small Yorkshire pud and some dinners got an artistic lavender flower through it. Do not miss out on the **** Mary too. Finally, the friendly local pub atmosphere is rounded off by chilled tunes that brings back 90's Ibiza memories. Very dog friendly too.
This was my first visit to the pub since living in Streatham over half a century ago. The beer is good and the place was, thankfully, still thriving. Bar staff were very friendly and deserve success.
This is a community pub in the true sense. Away from the main road and with traditional decor and a good drinks selection, it's ostensibly for locals but visitors are made welcome too. The menu is small but perfectly formed and the burger is excellent. The rock music can be a bit loud at times but that's a minor issue. It's well worth a visit.
