Bidra med feedbackA bit of a caveat: I live in San Francisco, which has a fair number of Thai restaurants of various stripes. Connoisseur? Perhaps? I think Shakti ended up being oversold to me, as the reviews were glowing. I came during lunch, which admittedly (in Spain) might be the lesser of the meals. The waitstaff was amazing and was incredibly attentive. However, the food was meh at best, which was kind of surprising to me, given the quality of the food I'd experienced at other restaurants in the area and the reviews. I ordered a prawn curry with sticky rice; the curry was nothing to write home about, and the sticky rice was a little underdone, so surprisingly hard. I really, really wanted to like this restaurant. The waitstaff raises it to a 3.5 in my head, but probably not a 4 in my head.
We ordered the house platter by recommendation of our fine waiter and were not disappointed. Every dish as it came out of the kitchen was attractive, tasty, and at times surprising in a good way! No standard bottled sauces here, everything is original, authentic, and prepared and served with care. We felt like kings and queen! BTW the yoga school is brilliant as well. Finally a class I look forward to, as well as doing something great for myself.
This was a culinary experiment for me, a first visit to a Thai restaurant and it couldn 't have been better. The atmosphere was great, the waiter attentive, friendly and helpful, and the food delicious. We were advised to have the taster menu and this was good advice. I strongly recommend this to everyone. A great experience and one we 'll repeat again and again.
