Gaston's White River Resort - Lakeview

Great place to meet and fish. The restaurant was great and right on property. Nice easy walk from the cabins. Great to be right on the white river.

Visited Gaston's on 9 Aug, 2024 with my nephew. We felt 24 was the best landing and 06 the best takeoff. On the 06 takeoff, there are a few trees to your left that you will need to sidestep and establish a positive right turn climb as soon as possible. Use all of the available grass unless your in a low speed take off plane. Food was great, waitress was AWESOME and the restaurant atmosphere was perfect.

Very rude front desk in restaurant. Walked in restaurant and was turned away because they said they were full. There were multiple empty tables. Told we had to make a reservation for the up coming hour yet no one was there. Like all the people with reservations were all going to run in at one time and fill all the tables. I think not! Heard food was not that great away. Also, room we had friends in fell on top of them but they were given another room for the inconvenience.

Frank was a wonderful guide, even with inexperienced fishers. This was a very memorable experience, and I hope to return someday. Highly recommend asking for Frank when you visit.

We had an amazing stay at Newlands Resort right down the road from Gatstons. We stayed at Newlands in the Lodge for 5 days. We had an amazing time and experience at Newlands. The room was freshly renovated and the AC was freezing. You could literally fish off the balcony at the lodge. So we wanted to extend our stay. Newlands did not have any availability due to being booked solid. I can see why. So we made the huge mistake of booking Gatstons. Upon arrival the room was outdated and hot. The AC never caught up to the heat. There is a large drop off behind the cabin to get to the river. Not to mention we had friends come over from the state park and were charged $18.00 per person. I told the lady at the desk they only visited and did not stay. She was very rude and said “ well they used our facilities didn’t they” I will never come back.. I have been coming for 17 years. From now on I will stay at Copper John’s or Newlands Resort and stay in the lodge. Rooms: One room had no AC. Noteworthy details: Very outdated AC never caught up. Over priced scam. Paid $18 per person to come hang out. Very disappointed!!
