We had a bit of a hard time figuring out where to park due to the Saturday Farmer's Market street closure, but found a spot a block over. We arrived less that 30 minutes before closing time, but the owner was happy to see us and told us there was no rush at all. I had the patty melt on Cuban bread instead of marble rye with tater tots and unsweetened iced tea. Everything was fresh and delicious! The tea was fresh-brewed, which is a must for me! The owner is very friendly and shared some other points of interest we might like to see on a future visit. I will definitely visit this restaurant again!
Service was good, and the place was clean. Liked the rice and bean soup, too. The sad amount of meat on the turkey-bacon-Swiss sandwich (see photo) literally made me laugh, however. For 10.99, that’s not even remotely acceptable.
We were at a college baseball game in Lakeland and searching the web for a restaurant nearby and found the purple onion. So very thankful that we did as the sandwiches were fabulous! If I am ever in the Lakeland area again, it will be the first place I will go to eat!
After visiting the farmer’s market in Lakeland we stopped at the Purple Onion. The french onion soup was good with lots of delicious melted cheese ! I had the purple onion chicken club wrap and it was delicious! My companion got a side salad that was average but still good with the french onion soup! They were busy and short staffed but with all the employees working together it was a great experience! All the food came out timely and delicious! Will definitely go back!
We looked for a non chain place for lunch and found The Purple Onion. So glad we did! We split a terrific tuna salad and some of the best French Onion soup we’ve had in years. Great job!
