O Charco - Lagos

We have been here a few times now and will continue going back! We have 2 young sons and the menu is great for them as well (they love sharing a bachalau á bras). Service is always brilliant and the food is consistently great! Definitely recommend!

O Charco is a wonderful traditional restaurant located in Altura beach. Honestly, it is my favorite restaurant in Algarve: the menu combines both incredibly fresh fish and seafood with a wide range of regional specialities some of them are really hard to find elsewhere for example, feijoada de barriga de atum tuna belly with beans). Additionally, one must try the delicious rice dishes such as the shrimps rice), the cataplanas , squids or the wonderful variety of tuna dishes. They also have a great selection of wines Dona Berta , for example) and a good beer, Mahou , a well known Spanish beer brand. But the best option is to rely on the owner Mr. Luís, a true connoisseur both on gastronomy and wines. Luís is always glad to recommend the best pratos do dia fresh daily dishes) wonderfully cooked by his wife. Also, since Mr. Luís worked many years in Paris, sometimes one can find some fine meals such as Choucroute with sausage or a great cheesy bread... I highly recommend O Charco !!

Prices are high, the cataplana was the worst I ever had and far too expensive tourist trap I can not understand the votes here

Great restaurant by the beach in a lovely town. Good food, I recommend the baby squid main course and the lemon cake desert. Worth a visit.
