L'Etoile Berbere - La Rochelle

As a seafood lover, I have to make sure that my partner also gets the food he likes. that was perfect for the calculation and that was eating fab, we both had the lamb tagine and a few drinks. reasonable price and service. was great. only on the bottom was the light in the toilet not working.

Lunch outside in wonderful weather sharing two dishes: a chicken and Mutton couscous. beautiful friendly staff and good atmosphere. for an alternative to all fish and seafood in la rochelle is worth a visit.

I 've re-visited this restaurant as i remembered having eaten a nice tagine here before, as it was near my hotel. on my first visit the food was quite good and the staff very nice, but the seating at a table in the middle of the...place with people bustling past all the time was not nice, i tried make the best of it and just eat the nice food. on my second visit i went early at opening time and asked for a quiet small two-persons table, on an empty restaurant, but again was pointed to the same exposed table, then i was told all other two-person tables were for joining up for four people. so, when couples go, they also cannot take any two-persons tables, in case four people turn up? this time i decided not to endure the exposed, hassle, uncomfortable eating experience at the one middle table, so i cannot tell if the food is still good. the bad seating and lack of comfort nor choice given you when you are just one isn 't nice at all. by the way on my first visit the bill was about 50euro worth of food and drink, not simply 'just ' a one person fare either. not a good welcome at all.

Took the children for their first ever real couscous meal. The waiter recommended we only order two meals for the adults and he would make sure we had enough for the four of us. Worked very well and the service was attentive and charming. Also...fantastic value as a family meal.

The tagine here was absolutely delicious. The owner was extremely helpful in introducing various dishes to us, since we were relatively unfamiliar with most dishes. Save room for dessert you will not be disappointed. A nice alternative to the seafood fare at many other...restaurants in La Rochelle.
