Oueld El Bey - La Marsa

Good atmosphere, and the price is cheap as we were 8 people spending 100 TND. I especially loved the cat there

These hot sandwiches were highly recommended to us so we thought we’d try. First of all the cost: 7 TND which is basically pennies will get you a massive sandwich that will fill you up. You choose you grilled meat or veggies as main ingredient: I went for escalope but regretted not trying the Tunisian merguez. You then get to add toppings, like at Subway where you can add harissa, mayo, spicy mayo, olives, ham, cheese, salad, tomatoes, onions, jalapeños, etc. The speed of service is extremely fast, a rare thing in Tunisia and they have tables outside to sit down. The only downer for me was the bread, they simply don’t have great bread in Tunisia unlike in Europe. Highly recommend this place to all backpackers, sandwich lovers, quick on the go lunch, late night snackers, etc. It’s a bit of an institution in La Marsa.
