Le Saint-laurent - La Malbaie

We had a wonderful dinner here, one of the best dining experiences I’ve had in years. They are proud of using locally ingredients and they should be proud of this. Everything was first class. We definitely will be dining here whenever we are in La Malbaie.

Everything is grossly overpriced. Food very ordinary. Steak (230$ overcooked served like a stew. If I was the chef I wouldn't want my name on the menu. Waiter wearing running shoes. No guest dress code. Hoodies and ripped jeans okay. The restaurant is an insult to the industry.

The service is more than excellent, but the food is oufff!!! Below expectations!! Really too expensive for what you get!!! And cooking ?

To start, I ordered a classic cocktail (the spritz was completely off, overly syrupy with only 3-4 ice cubes). The soup was good, and the salmon appetizer was okay at best (bland, overcooked, and dry). The mashed potatoes were excessively salty, and the jade risotto with grilled vegetables included just two steamed carrots and five tiny pieces of sautéed bell peppers (perhaps leftovers from the morning's omelette buffet?). The risotto lacked flavor, and the type of rice used resulted in a mushy, pudding-like texture. I only ate the two carrots and didn’t finish my cocktail. No one asked me if I enjoyed my meal; when I mentioned my concerns, I was simply thanked for the feedback and told that my comments would be passed along to the kitchen. In a well-known hotel and restaurant, especially at this high price point, one would expect superior dishes. Service, management, and the hotel should prioritize customer satisfaction. We’ll be heading to St-Hubert tonight and will choose another hotel for our next vacation due to the restaurant offering. It’s a shame because the restaurant and hotel are both beautiful.

One of the best restaurants I’ve dined at in Quebec. I really appreciated the local flair in the menu and the attention to detail. Upon entering, a hostess took the time to chat with us and learn about the purpose of our visit. It made for a lovely experience and felt very personalized. If you decide to visit, make sure to budget both time and money. While the service was a bit slow, the quality of the meal more than made up for this minor inconvenience.
