Bidra med feedbackReview is for restaurant only. Food and service were excellent. I would have given them 5-stars but I’m deducting 1/2 star because the server didn’t tell me the iced tea was pre sweetened but it definitely was a 4 1/2 star meal. Rooms: 4 Service: 4 Location: 4

Full disclosure, I did not actually stay here. This review concerns their customer service and deceptive business practices and serves as a warning to others. My wife and I very recently moved across the country from Texas to Washington. As we were passing through LA Grande, OR on I-84 we were looking for a place to stop for the night. We were driving a large SUV and pulling a boat. The Landing 's website said free parking onsite without any limitations. Reviews looked good so we booked their last room at $250 which was a suite. Immediately after booking we received a confirmation email which stated for the first time that parking was limited and could not accommodate large rigs or those pulling trailers. So we called to confirm this would be an issue and were told that our only option was to park on the street. We were not comfortable with that as we had a lot of personal stuff in both our vehicle and our boat that we didn 't want to risk being stolen. Maybe in the 1950s that would be fine, but not in 2023 and certainly not in Oregon. So we asked to cancel the reservation. Initially we were told that was fine as they understood but about 30 minutes later we were called back and told we couldn 't cancel because it was within 24 hours of arriving (never mind that we had only made the reservation about 2 hours prior at this point). We were told that they would re-list the room for booking and if someone else reserved it we 'd be fine, but if not, we 'd be on the hook for it. About an hour later my wife checked their website and they indicated they were sold out for the night. So we thought we were good. She called to confirm only to learn that they hadn 't re-listed the room as promised but did so while my wife was on the phone. I wasn 't keen on losing $250 so agreed to go by the place and if parking looked relatively secure we 'd assume the risk. And we did that. But what we found was that the property is on the main street and the only available parking for anything larger than a car is on that main street. Neither of us were comfortable assuming that risk so we told the clerk that we would not be staying as our stuff would be unsecure. I also pointed out that their practices are deceptive as they clearly know they have a problem which is why they tell you about the parking limitation, but only after you have booked. It 's a classic bait and switch. The place may be nice, and the staff may be attentive. But they are sheisters in their business practices and others need to know. Don 't book a stay if you want to park on site and are driving anything more than a car.
This old hotel has been beautifully restored and has a wonderful atmosphere. The young lady who checked us in was very helpful and friendly. But the beds are horrible Probably the worst we have slept on. I was up at night more than I slept. I know have a very sore and stiff back from the experience. Hopefully the owner will read this and replace the mattresses. The hotel is wonderful and could have been the best stop on our trip. P.S. if the owners doesn"t like my review I sugest they spend a night in room #2. I give honest reviews good and bad. We are the paying public are have a right to express our views.
