Restaurant La Normande - La Baie

We arrived there just because we filled the tank of our vehicle in the petrol station that is close to it and it was quite late to find some other thing. After a day full of hiking and quite tired, the essence you feel while...crossing the door makes you think: may be this time we'll have a nice dinner. It was friday, must of clients were local; a musician at the piano, good atmosphere all around, fantastic smells and ... a meal that doesnt say anithing against that first impression. Sole from fjord, saumon salad, beef flambee, nice beer and wine and not very expensive if you compare it with other similar in the region. If you are around ... you can not miss it.

We went to dine twice at this restaurant. The first night we were alone,got wonderful service with generous portions.A true pleasure.Next evening the restaurant had other customers-cyclists that came for a competition- and this time service was merely passable and portions half of previous day...such...a disappointment. Still,the owner cooks good food. we recommend.

I ordered the festival fondue special and thoroughly enjoyed it. There were plenty of meats, vegetables, and chicken to go around.

On a recent cruise, our ship called on La Baie-Saguenay, and we happened upon this place, more out of the lack of options than out of actual choice. The waitress was very kind and generous, the food came out faster than I expected and the...quality was fine. I would have liked to have a better beer than Budweiser. The menu was limited, but offered their version of the local tourtière. It was a nice experience.
