Bidra med feedbackOne of the best restaurants I've ever visited! 5 star service and food! Great atmosphere and our server, Bobby, was a pleasure! He was extremely professional, went over everything on the menu with us, had a TON background information about the food, where comes out and Kauai in general. It was an unforgettable experience and worth every penny! My husband and I will be back DEF. Thanks Merriman's for the beautiful experience and good food! Bobby is a professional who made the evening so unforgettable for us!
Very expensive, but it was good. The fried steak and pork quesadilla are a must! Views are stunning. It took a while to get someone to the table. But now every restaurant is like that. They do their best and the food was worth every moment. Reservations are a must. I think you can sit at the bar without her. We had to reserve 3 days in advance so we don't wait to make them. Fresh fish was swordfish and Marlin, both amazing. The best meal we had. The staff is also very friendly. Very recommended.
We were so excited for this very big dinner we booked after our helicopter tour of Kaua?i. Unfortunately very disappointed. Absolutely the lowest rating I have ever given a restaurant, not to mention one with the high price point. The two stars are for our waiter. The positives: beautiful location with open air atmosphere, so hope to catch a breeze. Also the sweet little salt container on the tables was delicious salt for your food. You'll need it. The wine was good. Our favorites from this restaurant were the Cesar-Salat and Parmesan French Pommes. We came there at the opening and before we made the restaurant from a white fish option, so replaced by Ahi Thun. These are not the same type of fish, nor should they be cooked in the same way. Also the island restaurants were endless, that their fish are fresh daily, as are you running out at the opening? Hubby had a simple fillet and I had the duo (fish and fillet), as I can generally tolerate a boiled ahi tuna. I didn't even finish the tuna because it was cooked like the white fish (seed in a parmesan chest and then baked). The kitchen should have changed the cooking method for the seafood option when it ran out of white fish. The menu options were limited to what our first track should have been to leave. The files were bland and small. The parts were small. The crab cake appetizer at a throw $24 was TWO very small crab cake (two bites tops). Our tip was $250 and the worst food we had? ve had on vacation, maybe ever. We're still hungry and picked up snacks at the Living Foods Store in the area, and we're quite frankly sorry that we haven't eaten first in this restaurant. We also regretted not only paying the wine and appetizer bill when the waiter said they were made of white fish that cut the limited menu even further and left. There are many other good restaurants nearby, do not choose them.
Wow! We had heard some locals say that the quality of food had gone on Merrimans hill, but our experience was fantastic. The food was perfectly cooked, beautiful to see, and full of taste. Our server was funny and attentive. And the surroundings were magical from sunset to dark. It's busy and expensive. So make a reservation and enjoy.
Merriman's is much better than the supposedly sister restaurant Beach House so if you can only try one, I'd recommend Merriman's. The crab cake is so-so (don't expect Maryland big lump) and the salad is decent albeit boring. The Deep Water Spot Prawns is actually pretty good and you peel it raw which is easy for me as an Asian but if you are not used to peeling raw prawns or seeing the innards of a shrimp then I'd recommend skipping them. They surprisingly did a great job of grilling swordfish which is hard to grill without overcooking. The shrimp and scallops are good but not worth the price considering they only give you two prawns, which is the same as the seafood special which also only gives you 2 shrimps. Overall I'd recommend Red Salt over this for more innovative dishes and more attention to detail on the sauce. I like the service although it's more like good restaurant service rather than fancy restaurant service. Mai Tai is better than many other places.
