Located on the 3rd floor of Diamond Plaza Mall near food court. It has a typical North Indian restaurant with a model of tractor right inside entrance. Good ambience. Tasty food. Prices are reasonable. But no alcoholic beverages served here. Decor is good. Service is little slow. Though the servers try to look to very quick and alert but in fact they don't care for the table they have served. You need to catch their eyes or call them. Overall good experience. Cost for two about Rs 600.
Good punjabi food... especially buter chicken and butter naan .. worth it.. bt lil pricey.. great ambience.. totally punjabi aesthetic... and kebab platter is awesome .... mughlai food is also good.. mutton biryani is yummm
Splurge into the rustic flavours of the Northern India as you land up at Rang De Basanti Dhabe , Diamond plaza<br/ <br/ While you might have had all the butter chickens and kadhai chickens of the world in North India, and you are one of them, who rejoices lassi, and dive into Tandoors, tikkas and butter masala peace ho, you may not have to move to the Northern hills for the same. You can relish a delightful delicacies that are delicious. Fancy dishes looms beautiful the dish might look, if it isn't delicious, all of it might go in vain. From simple finger foods like cheese balls to succulent nibbles such as tikkas, there are endless options available in the righteous dhaba style right at Rang De Basanti Dhaba.<br/ <br/ Where? There are many outlets of RDB at the city's corners, but we deluged on our food right at Diamond plaza.<br/ <br/ What's it about? RDB has a yellow coloured interiors which are well complemented by the décor wherein cutlery spoon fork and bottles have been used as lamp shades. Besides, simple hardwood furniture with phulkari cushions goes well with the dhaba concept of this restaurant. A life size tractor placed right at the entrance gives a unique twist to the décor of the place. Rang De Basanti Dhaba, has become quite popular and is frequented by many. I couldn't have had enough of it.<br/ <br/ Hari Mirch Chiken Tikka All those who boast hogging on spicy dishes, I bet ,you should try this. The after effect of green chillies, is hot and spicy. The aromatic flavours of a myriad of spices and chillies is what you look forward in the fried chicken pieces sautéed with ginger garlic paste, onion, curd, lemon pickle and a host of spices. Add a dash of lemon juice to bring about the tanginess to the chicken while the curd and cream gives a creamy and rich look to the dish. It is served with a generous garnishing of coriander leaves and green chillies.<br/ <br/ Butter Chicken with bone with Lachchchha Paratha If you are craving for the North Indian creamy and packed full of flavor Chicken butter masala with a dollop of butter and the tanginess of tomato,well you are at the light place. Savour the good old Butter Chicken and bite into juicy Tikkas at Rang De Basanti Dhaba, Jessore Road.!<br/ <br/ <br/ The best part of India being such a diversified country definitely has to do something with its food. With different regions having their own indigenous food, with ingredients locally sourced and then getting influenced by the gradual foreign entry and exists, there has been a phase when many of these specialized dishes got overlapped, and adopted by the other parts of this country in a way and direction they seem fit. With food and music being the universal binder of love, it isn’t that hard to make something our own and accept it wholeheartedly. The result being having neighbourly dishes with our own twist, so as to suit the tastebuds right for our palette.<br/ <br/ A sudden roadtrip to elsewhere, perhaps across the highway, what feeds us best are the little roadside dhabas along the way. Also bringing us close to the Northern style of cooking, and dishes close to Delhi and Punjab, right up to our alley. It is often hard to contemplate what we love about the dhabas the most? Is it the rustic and carefree sitting or the mouthwatering dishes they cook up, with their own charm and adding flavours so hard to recreate inside the comforts of our house? While hygiene can be a question mark for many, these are the times when places like Rang De Basanti Dhaba helps us to satiate our favourite dishes within a fine-dining ambiance.<br/ <br/ A quick visit to their outlets inside the Diamond Plaza Mall help us get nostalgic and experience the age-old flavours we were so craving for, some quick temperature checks at the entry of the mall and the restaurant, being accompanied with due sanitization process. The restaurant earmarked the sitting positions for everyone, while maintaining the required distance to be maintained among each other. We started off with a Kurkure Bhindi, which had finely chopped bhindi, perhaps air roasted to minute perfection. It had almost nil traces of oil, but definitely carried the crunch and crisp, you would expect from anything of its sort, much like mimicking a chip.<br/ <br/ Next came a luscious and mouth-melting Chicken Kebab, perfectly marinated with a rich green chilli paste. The chicken cubes were soft and succulent, and we had no trouble to gulp each one of those portions straight into our mouth. With every single bite leaving a zing of the green chillies, the subtlety of this preparation will clearly blow anyone’s mind off. Moving on to the maincourse, we paired up a good old Butter Chicken with Lachcha Paratha, Plain Naan, Butter Naan and a Tawa Chicken Biryani. Butter Chicken, hailing all the way down from the alleys of Delhi, has definitely been one of those dishes, which has grown up on us.<br/ <br/ This version, definitely creamy and buttery, had the addition of perhaps slit green chillies, which again made us feel a slight kick with every bite we took. The Lachcha Parathas weren’t oily, but were rather baked in tandoor, pairing perfectly with the juicy chicken portions. The Tawa Chicken Biryani, was more of a Pulao, something which I have come across the lanes at Hazratganj in Lucknow. The rice and the other ingredients are tossed over a tawa, with the masalas being more prominent in nature than we are used to in our quintessential Kolkata Style Biryani. A perfect mix of sweet, crisp, creamy and spicy flavours, all amalgamating onto a single bite, our evening couldn’t have got any better.<br/ <br/ A sweet end to our meal with the in-house Phirni, the flavours from the Kebabs and Butter Chicken made me crave for even more, perhaps overpowering the delicate intricacies of the Phirni.
