Bidra med feedbackVery good place to eat a pork knuckle. They have a lot of variations and the taste is really good. Nice location in the city centre. I would not call it something mind blowing, just a decent local German food. Among visitors there are mostly tourists
Located along Frankenwerft and looking out and over to the majestic River Rhine is Haxenhaus Zum Rheingarten a tavern I always look forward to visiting on any holiday I take to Cologne. I love the look of this tavern, interior is superb, very traditional, wonderful decor and furnishings, a great looking serving bar, dark wood features abound throughout this tavern and there's plenty of seating options spread throughout this tavern both inside and outside, this is were we chose to sit, a very pleasant member of the bar team deposited two Gaffel Brauerei kölsch in front of us ,these were served in excellent condition being iced cold and sparkling and we just kicked back, chilled out and soaked up the great vibe in this busy and popular tavern. A big fan of the various kölsch beers served in this vibrant city on the River Rhine, a golden, light and hoppy lager style beer bursting with taste and very easy to drink especially when served freezing cold as in this tavern. We stayed here for three beers each before moving on and as on every other visit to here we had a great time . Haxenhaus is easy to locate along Frankenwerft. Opening hours are; Monday to Sunday, open from 11.30am. Well worth checking out if you're in the Old Town of Cologne.
This restaurant is in the city center and it was frequented mostly by tourists as you can hear all the different languages, which I love the most about Europe. The menu is quite extensive and their specialty appears to be pork knuckles although I ordered the bratwurst. The service is very friendly and overall a good option to enjoy traditional Kölsch beer.
Knuckle was totally dried impossible for eating. The other food was not bad, but the knuckle was the main course and very disappointed.
We loved the interior of this restaurant as it was authentically traditional German with its dark wood and elaborate carvings. We had actually booked a table whilst in the UK but I think we would have been okay without. The staff were friendly and attentive....We went for the Wiener schnitzel which was delicious and also enjoyed the local beer. We enjoyed our meal here and would recommend a visit.
