Safeway Bakery - Kodiak

This is a very clean supermarket and they even have equally clean bathrooms. They have a Starbucks in the front with lots of tables for you to eat what you buy from the market. This supermarket even has free wifi which was helpful because I was only on 2G cellular. You just have to agree with their log in agreement. They even have souvenirs. Yes, it is more expensive than the supermarkets that aren't on an island but produce is fresh and I would come back anytime I return to Kodiak.

Excellent red potato dill salad from the deli! Also, they'll shave you some delicious ham and their croissants from the bakery are off the chart! Pair w a slice of Tillamook cheese, winner! The organic strawberries are delicious and their gourmet cheese/ cracker/ jam section is on point, too! Say Hi to Gladys for me! ;

We've been in this Safeway a few times while visiting the island, and will most likely be back before we leave in a couple weeks. They've pretty much had everything we've needed or wanted as far as groceries are concerned. After the initial sticker shock that's common here in Alaska, I've been better at looking for sales while here. It's kind of a pain in the butt to go to a different entrance to grab a 6 pack of beer, but that's not on the store. All the meats and produce have been good, as has been the dairy. My only complaint is the parking lot. I'm legally blind and the curbs need repainted, not ADA compliant most likely.
