Bidra med feedbackWe have dined at this restaurant quite a few times as it is near where we live. But this was one of the best meals we have had there, so I thought I would write a review. We started with a Dry Martini and Mojito cocktails which were both very good with top quality ingredients. There is a good selection of wines by the glass at reasonable prices. For starters we shared a tasting plate for 2 with duck liver parfait olives, dips and inhouse made breads. This was all delicious with just the right amount of salt in the selection of different types of olives. For mains I had a very tender and tasty Waygu fillet steak with tempura onion rings and a red wine sauce which was not cheap ($52), but it was worth it. My wife had a special of duck leg with orange sauce that was tender and delicious. For desserts we had an apple tarte tatin and a New York cheesecake, both of which were very good. Service was timely, informative and friendly. I highly recommend this restaurant as excellent value for money.
After reading the reviews I thought that I would invite our friends for a night out. I struggled to equate the reviews to my/our experience. Admittedly it was a Saturday night but the service was terrible. The waiter took forever to take our drinks order and when they eventually arrived one was missing. Then there was an extraordinarily long wait between ordering our meals and then their arrival. My order of Chicken Chassuer was sub-standard. The chicken was dry and the creamy mash it was served upon lacked creaminess. However my wife's order of beef cheeks was beautiful. It also took an eternity to have our drinks topped up. Poor service again. I also noticed that when other tables vacated that they were not cleared of dirty dishes, glasses etc. Indeed long after completing our meals our dishes had not been cleared. We did not even bother to order desserts as we thought we would be waiting until midnight. Surely management must be aware of how many reservations are made and should staff the restaurant accordingly. After all service is what makes or breaks a business. There are now six people, who live locally, that will never return.
So out me and the wife went on saturday night for a date. She thought she'd booked the italian across the road but no, it was Sierra Tango. As we rocked up i get all snobby cos theres a placard out the front with a picture of a burger on it. So my expectations aren't high . We walk in and are greeted with a large spacious (not too crowded with tables) eating area. We sit and the waiter ( who we later discover is called Sergio and a qualified GP in his home country) comes over and explains the specials from memory. Drinks order is taken and we decide on what we are going to eat. As its a date night we are splashing out a bit. We share a duck liver parfait ( wonderfully smooth and tasty) yum! I order the pork belly with calcannon and the wife orders the salmon with Risotto. Wow! What great food. We share our dishes a little as a matter of course and They both are extremely well presented and taste wonderful. Cannot fault it. Another plus is they serve cocktails ( my wife verified the margarita is "very good") and a selection of beers and of course wine and spirits. A couple of the usual suspects like peroni and asahi are available but also some belgian beer , locally brewed xpa as well as some 2 brothers beers and a nice pale ale. I had a selection and fell in love with the belgian beer. We also had some merlot ( cant remember the name ) but boy was that good too. Sergio was extremely attentive and we managed to have some "chats " which is how we discovered he and his wife are gp's. We also managed to speak with sara the owner as we wanted to pass on our compliments re her food and staff and realised she used to live close to our town back in the uk. To top the night off we got talking to another english couple on the next table and ended up drinking more wine in the process so didnt leave until after midnight ( sorry sara and sergio). All in all a great evening of food, drink and socialising. Excellent restaurant. Going back soon.
I loved this restaurant. The atmosphere was lovely. The staff were fantastic. You could ask for better service. The food was 10/10. It exceeded my expectations. If I travel back to Melbourne I would go out of my way to visit here again. The Vegetarian meals were with the best Ive ever had, Thank you.
We visted Sierra Tango last night and we have an awesome meal/time. The wagu and the roast duck legs were cooked to perfection and packed with flavor. There was also an acoustic guitar player who added a great atmosphere. And there were a good selection of local beers and diverse wine list. This definitely a gem in the bayside.
