Bidra med feedbackI had a wonderful evening meal here and decided to return for a delicious Sunday lunch. I highly recommend this restaurant. The atmosphere was very friendly and the food was abundant and perfectly cooked.
Probably one of the best pubs I've been to. The staff are exceptional very welcoming nothing too much trouble. Food is good pub grub. Good quality food. deserts are very good. Some are home made and some bought in but everything we had were absolutely lovely. Highly recommend.
I took my husband to this restaurant for our 5th wedding anniversary and everything was perfect. The staff were excellent, the service was great, and the whole place was clean. The food and atmosphere were fantastic. We absolutely love this cozy little pub. We have visited before and will be returning in a couple of weeks for our son's birthday. The waffles were amazing. I couldn't find any faults with anything.
I always enjoy the Sunday lunch at this restaurant, with a selection of 3 locally sourced meats. This Easter Sunday, they also had lamb on the menu, which is my absolute favorite! The lamb was cooked perfectly and served with an extra helping of gravy. The plate also included carrots, peas, swede, broccoli with cheese sauce, roast and new potatoes, and a large Yorkshire pudding. The staff were friendly and welcoming. We will definitely be returning.
We were regulars at the Gate until Covid, and have only 5 star reviews of it till we went there yesterday! The atmosphere and friendliness of the current staff lived up to expectations but the menu did not. I had been told when I rang to book that there was still an extensive vegetarian menu 2 dishes and jacket potatoes do not make an extensive choice. The vegetarian dish my wife selected was on the menu as having a bubble and squeak cake as part of the dish but when it came, no cake just a side salad. When queried we were told it was always served with a side salad and the listing on the menu was a printer 's error. My 'Christmas ' pasta did not contain the advertised mushrooms or meatballs but was very tasty. I noticed it had disappeared from the board after I ordered it. The only dish that came as advertised was the Fish and chips though the quantity of the chunky chips would have fed all three of us! There were other mistakes on the menu the 'pate of the from ' seems to be missing a day, and the coffees were advertised at £2.00 but charged at £2.20 though one can accept small changes due to the soaring costs of running a pub. Originally the pub had been owned by a gentleman who lived in the village and leased to landlords but now I see it is owned by Maxi Pubs Ltd. I doubt we will visit again.
