Great spot with good prices for a quick breakfast, especially if you are an early riser. They open at 7:00AM which is at least an hour earlier than anywhere else I saw in Kings Beach. Breakfast burrito was very good and at a reasonable price. Outdoor seating and clean picnic tables with a sunshade overhead.

Super good biscuits and gravy, burritos, and vegan tacos.

The Yard Hen has been open for a few weeks just outside of our community nano-brewery Bear Belly and I finally got the chance to try it! The Yard Hen offers early hours and the only real breakfast in town. They are open five days a week, Weds-Sun from 7AM to 2PM. Just off the beaten path of town (literally a block up from the main road , the Yard Hen is a hidden gem worth discovering. When my partner and I finally got down to check it out, it was lunch time. Whether you are vegan or definitely not vegan, Yard Hen has you covered. I got the Veggie Burger, and he opted for the Turkey Cranberry and Brie sando. The Veggie Burger was absolutely delightful. The ciabatta was warm, fluffy, and fresh, and in the age of processed veggie patties, the fact that this patty was homemade was a welcomed treat (I detected some quinoa in there, yum! . Throw in some creamy avocado, and homemade sauce and I had myself a winner! While I didn't try my partner's sandwich, I could tell he felt the same way. It was devoured. If you catch the Yard Hen on a Sunday when the partnering Bear Belly Brewing opens at noon, then you are in for a double treat. Cold, local beer, the warm Tahoe sun, groovy jams being played on the outdoor speakers, and a thoughtful Yard Hen creation will leave you, well... never wanting to leave really.
