Bidra med feedbackLovely lovely stay, so romantic. Love the beach hammocks and exploring. Had the most wonderful seafood buffet here, really rivals the best one at four seasons in Maui. Excellent everything thank you sm ?Rooms: 5/5
Everything about this hotel is amazing. The grounds, the location, the service, you name it. Truly. I have stayed at easily 200+ hotels, and this is in the top 5-10. However, the big issue here is the ants. Key West, if you are unfamiliar, has a massive sugar ant problem. I'm talking bad, like sit a plate down in your room, turn away, look back, and there are red ants on your food instantly bad. This hotel, in and of itself, is so absolutely beautiful and amazing, but I genuinely hope the ant problem is somehow fixed in full, but it may be beyond their control.
Stayed for a long weekend in early April 2023. I've also been to KW probably 50 times over the years so I'm very familiar with the island and what you get for the money staying there.I've seen some of the negative reviews and I think a lot are unwarranted or unrealistic to some extent.Price KW is expensive so even a dumpy motel will cost you several hundred a night, that's life. With that said I thought the price range was reasonable given what you get for the money.Location great spot within easy walking distance to a lot of stuff.Beach most people don't realize KW has no natural beach, its more volcanic terrain so the hotels have to boat the sand in from the Bahamas. Which means it erodes eventually so it isn't going to be Destin white powder all the time...Historic love the old history of this hotel and it's feel.Amenities was great when I was there with staffed poolside bars and restaurants etc. didn't even have to leave if you didn't want to. And they have an adults only pool and kids pool separate so that is great.Room I was in the east wing with a king bed room and it was fine honestly.Negatives:cleaning staff seemed very shorthanded, had trouble keeping up with the little details of cleaning. Some parts of the property are in need of remodel, carpet in the hallways needs to be ripped out, some drywall patching etc. It's just starting to show its wear and tear but it looks like they're doing a major renovation currently so that should be awesome, but expect the price to go up significantly I'm sure...Double rooms in the west wing my friends were in one of these and it was a little run down, shower didn't drain etc. Once again hopefully the renovation fixes a lot of this stuff.Overall I would stay here again in its previous state so I can't wait to see what the big renovation has in store for such a historic landmark.
Simply put DO NOT STAY HERE! The Front Desk Manager, Nicole, did all she could for us so we have to say that she really was very helpful. However, when the entire property is falling apart from age, mildew, out dated everything in all the rooms there wasn't much she could do. We were there 3 days and changed rooms 3 times. I guess that says it all. However, the little money this property did have was clearly put to the common areas. The lobby, pools, the fountain, outdoor bar restaurant, and lounge areas were all lovely. Keep in mind there is no sand beach even though there are loungers to lay out along the Atlantic Caribbean Sea. Unfortunately the 3 guest rooms we stayed in were all run down with mildew in the grout areas of the shower, the sink faucets were literally coming off, the toilet broke a number of time, there were tiny ant like bugs in the room, the smell of an old age home permeated all three rooms, and so forth. Definitely not worth the high cost as we felt this property should have been closed until all rooms have been renovated.
We wanted to give this place a shot for our honeymoon/babymoon. When we came in the lobby, we were impressed. It’s historic and beautiful, and Patrick checked us in and he was lovely. Our room was disgusting. It was baron, sterile, and immediately we were disappointed. I didn’t walk barefoot in the room. The lighting in the bathroom was terrible. There was a gap in the door to the outside, so people walking by were so loud. The door wouldn’t close unless you shoved it closed. So we had mosquitoes flying around every day. The AC unit was SO LOUD and kept us up. The pool was nice ish, but the water was warm for an 85 degree May pool day. The poolside server criticized our tip, asking if the service wasn’t good enough. Honestly the food was decent, drinks were a little weak tho. Bartender less than friendly. We were staying for a week and ultimately switched hotels on day 3. I understand this property is shutting down next week for renovations, but it seems there are updates to the room that could have been done in recent years. Completely unacceptable for an $800 room. The other Curio close by is landslides better.
